ASk BM she can do 500 words in about 4 minutes (on any subject)

Google, cut and paste. How hard is that? I mean, if you don't want to put any effort into and just want to satisfy a requirement for a class.

Plaguerism is your friend. :)

hahaha, already wrote it all anyway.

took me 2 hours but i was procrastinating during it as well.

Although, if your professor has the internet you may just be creating more work for yourself. You can't *just cut and paste* in this circumstance. Unless you have an extensive vocabulary and strong command of the english language then I retract my original suggestion as you would actually be making this project harder.

Iggy, all you have to do is think about it. Are you for or against it? Once you form an opinion about it, just tell me why you have that position.

Are you being graded for the strength of your supporting arguement or merely the ability to compose a well-written essay?

My college roomate was a born bullshit artist. He loved essay tests because it was a guaranteed A; even when he had no idea what he was talking about. I still don't know how he did it.

The gift of being able to talk your way into/out of anything is invaluable indeed. :D

I was the same back in the day. Whenever they handed out any of those bluebooks I secretly kicked up my heels and high-fived myself. ALWAYS GOT AN A.

I was born with the same gift. Just use a lot of big words and talk about how theres really no definitive way to answer the question at hand.

Fuck multiple choice.

multiple choice = C And i don't car what the subject

essay = A bullshit or detailed opinion or information either way they get tired of reading after the 3rd answer..

I was born an analytical and becoming an engineer only made it worse. I have no ability to be vague.

alright fine. here it is.
nothing special.

USA Patriot Act of 2001 - Reactionary or Mandatory?

The USA Patriot Act of 2001 was quickly passed on by Congress after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The Act was made to help counter and stop terrorism in the United States. The 9/11 Attack killed an estimated 3,000 people. Although the Act will help us track potential terrorists it can also be used aside from terrorism. This infringes on our privacy rights as Americans and contradicts the our forefathers wrote and stood for. The government is invading our rights with the Act and George Orwell’s book “1984” is becoming more so a reality in the everyday United States. I firmly believe the pros of the USA Patriot Act of 2001 outweigh the cons because of them.
It’s very hard to catch an enemy that is invisible. My father served in the Vietnam war and his enemy blended in well, just like the terrorists do nowadays. If we fail in our efforts to catch them we can lose potentially thousands of lives, but can we really arrest someone only under the suspicion that they are planning to attack us? Jose Padilla was arrested for planning to build and disperse a nuclear "dirty bomb" (BP.) It is a benefit to catch potential terrorists even though it is invading their privacy. We have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that their intent was to hurt us, and most terrorists are professionals at avoiding any actions that would lead to their arrest before their objective (EPIC.) The Patriot Act also gives us the ability to use these additional tools to make arrests on drug-trafficking and racketeering (BP.)
The government cannot go too far with invading privacy and spying because of the system of checks and balances we have (EPIC.) The new methods of data collection will help the government increase the percentage of lawful arrests by zoning out the guilty people and avoiding harassment of the innocent ones. Also, terrorists will have to plan around the new U.S. anti-terrorism policies which is not only time consuming, but also expensive. We are monitoring books terrorists buy now, and what they buy online with credit cards (BP.)
The Patriot Act comes with its fair share of problems as well. It takes away our own civil rights. To be American means to be free of government interference, and they now have the ability to look at our computers, cell phones, and personal lives without any warrant. They can arrest us without giving us an attorney as well (EPIC.) Our precious Constitution protections are being violated. People can now be tracked at their place of worship which breaks the first amendment, they can be held without a trial which breaks the seventh amendment, and they can be prevented from seeing a lawyer or facing the witnesses against them which violates the sixth amendment (BP.) So where are our rights?
My conclusion is that while the USA Patriot Act could possibly help us catch potential terrorists, it has too many complicated downsides that effect us for the negative. The government ends up controlling us more and infringing on our rights by being able to arrest people and question them without letting them talk to any of them. Instead of being innocent before proven guilty we are labeling all Muslims, nuclear scientists, Arab-Americans, immigrants, and bioweapons experts that we believe are potential terorrists. We are looking for an enemy we cannot see. Therefore we can never truly win. As Eleanor Roosevelt said, "Justice cannot be for one side alone, but must be for both."

Looks like you left a word out above.

Iggy - your arguement is sound and the works you cited are germaine. However, there are typos and your thoughts are disjointed. You have a good base but you should put a bit more effort into this. I am no professor and I hope you realize that I am trying to help you but this is C work, at best.

Your essay doesn't really sound like you believe what you are saying, rather that you are writing something because it is a requirement for class.

^^^ Does that help you?

Pretty funny, but sadly, true.

I wonder what the merits would be of taking ^^ this approach to the paper.

Could backfire and net an F but if the essay was well-written even a professor that was totally void of a sense of humor might give it an E for effort. LOL

Back when I was in school I don't think I would have had the balls to find out. (My grades were always very important to me... much more than *trying to get a point across*.) But were I to go back today, I would LOVE to provoke the shit out of 'em just for the mental exercise.

You just tell the instructors what they want to hear and use as references people they idolize. It's very easy. In my experience essay assignments are about confirming the instructor's beliefs, not really making an argument or forming an original thesis.

Wars, Big Brother, Terrorism, American Idol, Gay Marriage, Homeless, Spotted Owl, Darfur, Environment, Hippie shit...

All mean nothing when people get scared of losign their jobs or value of the dollar drops. THAT'S the only thing that'll make middle class people march in the streets (remember the panic when gas prices hit $5.00? People were gettig the pitchforks ready).

Rest of the time they'll bitch at water coolers and carry on being a bitch 40 hours a week to their boss. And the government and capitalists are quite fine with that.

Economy as an issue > EVERYTHING.

LOL its true. Back in the comfortable 1990's youll recall every horseshit vacuous issue being bandered about, like spotted owl, striped salamander, dolphins being caught in tuna nets, polk-a-dotted elfs, etc. When people dont have real problems in their lives they will adopt a problem, unless its 2009 where no one gives a shit because their life turned to shit itself.

I have a hard time believing professors grade based off what they want to hear and conforming to it. I have written about whatever the fuck I wanted and always pulled good grades.

Somehow this idea got perpetuated. People write shitty fucken essays - 90% of the time. Be concise. I would fail a paper that started wandering with bullshit banter and nonsensical ideas - a logical flow and progression is necessary to develop ideas and make strong arguments.
