I recall a few years ago in DC area, a merchant commented about the hot checks that Congressmen write. Hot checks for 1000's of dollars, with no repercussions. NONE. These are people elected to represent the people.

Please add the other criminals to this list. The ones who know shit is wrong, and hide their heads in the sand, pretend, or look the other way, as though nothing happened.

lol, I recall a 60 minutes some years back about a newly elected congressman who tried to change the system, he wanted to curtail the perks and limo rides and nice taxpayer financed housing and so on because he felt that elected officials were public servants that were supposed to do the bidding of the people. He got blackballed big time for that.

Exactly, instead, we underpay, undervalue the servicemen, women, firemen, and the good police officers who do their jobs well. What's wrong with that picture?

Who shaped the thinking? I'm thinking the government. Especially when there was a recent fight in Congress over a 4-6 percent pay raise for the military. The same Congress however voted to give themselves a 5k a year raise. 145k, to 150k.

no shit. and like a 4 to 6 percent raise isn't even much anyway. sure military folks get good benefits, but the pay sucks. big time.

OH MY FUCKING GOD! One of my eyes popped out and I went deaf in one ear. My blood pressure peaked so damn high I almost stroked on this one. I rant my ass off over and over about exactly this. On levels as low as our schools and our property taxes, these politically correct people entrusted with our better interest are padding their own lives and sticking us with the bill because they are not held responsible for their actions. What we need is to find people that will do the god damn job because it is the right thing to do. For no other reason than it the right god damn thing to do. There is lagislation pending right now to get the old cars off the streets by funding the crusher at the Federal level. Bullshit, they have literally millions of things to watch and they want to help raise the prices of cars so the average person can't afford to get a new one. My local taxes are as high as they can legally be. They'd be higher but the law stops them from taking more. Too much is being tampered with. I shouldn't have to worry if I can afford the taxes on bettering my life before I try. We need to overhaul the system. HARD!
