Urgent question for webmaster types.....

I am a photographer who updates his Front Page (easy enough for a dumb ass like me) web page all the damend time with new photos etc.

Are other people...possible customers able to view my web page when I am working on it?

No

you work locally on your photos

and it's only when you FTP your photos on the Internet that they become available by anyone who has your website address

test the code before you upload them.
rename your source file to .htm and open with IE.

So other people are not able to see all of the changes I have made until I FTP them?

I never heard of FTP....like I say...computer dumb ass here.

FTP = upload

= When you copy your photos from your computer to the web site

you use like freeweb severs...you modify code in a form text box?
if so, once you click save, the new page has been changed and is viewable
for all levels.

I have the ability to make my own changes with Front Page and authorization from my web master.

Are you sure that others can't see the changes I have made?

Thats what I am thinking.

Just wondered if the page is down...for others... while i am modifying it.

You use Front Page softeware? ....never used it.
Does it create a source file you have to upload to the server?
How does the code get from your PC to the server?

are you asking if others can simply get to your page while you're making changes, or if they can see your changes as you're making them?

if it's the former, then yes, i don't see why not. the old version is still sitting there, and as long as the web server continues to grant access to the outside while you're making changes.

if it's the latter, then obviously not. you have to save the changes to the html (which points to the photos) and upload the photos (which are the photos). then that becomes the version in place on your site, which others can see.

by the way. this is fairly simple to test out. start modifying your shit, in your usual way.

then ask someone to check your page.

not me though, i'm busy writing a haiku about sugarplum's titties.

looks good and works well.
sometimes the best sites are just simple and provide what you want without all the flash. you did a good job.

Thanks...I'd like to add some Enya music.

I think that would be ideal for a wedding web site.

NO MUSIC in the background.
you'll stop people from looking from work. and its intrusive most of the time.. people don't want to hear your music.
if you want articles to some simple rules for good design (or mistakes), let me know.
a few basic ones:
1. just cause you know how to add music or make something flash doesn't mean you should have it.

2. don't give your visitors a link to leave right away unless you want them to leave right away.

3. make everything easy to navigate, read, find.

4. be consistant with colors, fonts, design.

5. if your business is a serious one, make your website a serious one, etc.

wow....I would love some articles on rules for good design.

Also I would like to thank From Zero for designing my logo.

yes they can view it while you are working... they will see the new page once you save and upload/ftp it to your server space.

they will see the old page, whatever was there to begin with...

i thought he was asking if working on the page would take it down so that people can't see it.. that is typically not the case.

Good layout, Good logo.
The "No Colorado wedding is too....." <---Sentence is too long, wraps on my screen. Shorten and cut into two lines.
Or better yet, ditch it. Sounds like you're desperate.

Top left photo is way dark. Is there a groom in that mass of black? Either change or bring up the dark spots. The scenery is impressive but not the photo. A little change in the contrast could do wonders.

Top right photo - Good color, great expressions, but all the detail in the lady's dress is completely washed out.
Lower left photo - excellent
Lower right photo - too contrasty, bring up the detail in the waterfall area
Who'se the squinting guy that needs a haircut holding the camera ?
Considering you're advertising yourself as a professional photographer, shouldn't
your self photo be "great"?
