how spaced should ur hands be? how does the different spacing of ur hands effect the target muscles?

its my understanding that wider grip works delts more and traps less. but i could be wrong here

I think that's about right. Closer grip tends to be a little rougher on the wrists too.

i feel the wider i go, the more it hits my upper back...havnt gone wide for a while, maybe i will try again...bump for more comments

I have heard that upright rows are quite destructive to the rotator cuff -- its somewhat debateable however.

This is something I need to know. As for recently, wide grip, upright rows don't hurt my rc's, but lat raises cause discomfort / pain. Ergo, I've been doing upright rows for the last few weeks.

Yep! i have a bad rc and they are nasty on them. I do them though because i need to... and side lat raises aren't enough for my side delts.

The main thing is to keep your elbows above the bar when doing upright rows. I see most people end up with their elbows below the bar and that is not working the muscles that you are trying to target.

And yes moving your grip outward does place different stress on the muscles.

now i just gotta know by moving grip outward, how the target muscles change...any info, dont think its really been answered yet

by moving the grip outward, the emphasis shifts more to your delts (particularly side delts) than your traps.

A grip about shoulder width will target your delts if thats what you're looking for.

thanks bro...i appreciate it...i hit shoulders the day after back, so i dont wana be working my upper back two days in a row
