As a lot of you guys know. I decided to give up AAS about 5 months ago. At the time I wasn't sure if I would ever do them again or not. There was a lot of back and forth.
I have finally decided thats it. No more. Not that I ever did a lot.
In the beginning I missed it a bit. It sure made working out easier. I recovered faster etc.
Now I like that sore feeling I get. I am still getting results.
I did get a little depressed at first. I ate like crap etc.
Things are getting back to normal now. I am eating better. I am making gains and I am in the gym consistantly.
I guess getting a little older made me look at my life and my goals. I am happy with how I look. My primary goal in life is to be healthy so I can enjoy a long life. To do this I went to my Dr and had him run all sorts of tests. Being self employed this means I am paying for all of these out of pocket. We are talking thousands of dollars.
I have decided I will never use AAS of any kind again. I will still be on the board. Just not on the Anabolic Board that often (I really haven't been on her much in the last 7 months or so anyway). I will still be playing with the foods I eat and will be more than willing to help others so they can reap the benefits of eating properly too.
I guess this is sort of my goodbye to this section of Elite.
I have always enjoyed reading about everyones experiences and learning from everyone too.
That said... you will be able to find me on C&C and the bookie forum (where I have lost well over a million karma that was hard earned in this forum... LOL)
Good luck to everyone!

Good luck to you too bro.
Hope you still come by to visit every once in a while.
btw...did the doc show you something on those tests that made you come to your decision??

I have a new Dr. He is very accomplished. We ran a bunch of tests on Monday. I will not know the results until the 9th of January. I will post the results in the medical forum.
My liver is fine after an innitial scare. My kidneys are being looked at right now.
We are running extensive tests. It should be interesting.
I will say this though. All speculation goes out the window when you look at the results. It is very humbling. You definately lose that immortal feeling.

slat,

you seem to be a good guy, roids or not.

your loyal following here was/is not based on gear.

i suspect you will score just as many hoes off as well as on.

lift hard, eat clean, stay healty.

My gf suspects as much also. She never lets me out of her site!
smart woman! she KNOWS the competition is out there.

Bro, you gotta respect your decision. You gotta make your own rules and follow your life. Ono of my favorite sayings is NO ONE WALKS IN YOUR SHOES!
Ive read and enjoyed many of your posts so I certainly hope you dont become a stranger to the Board.

I have also had a health scare that I blamed on what I thought was the obvious. Luckilly it was not gear based (appendix flared up without there being any pain, white cells shot through the roof, high fever etc... finally an emergency appendectomy and 5 days in the hospital showed the cause) That lesson taught that even when you are at the height of you physical fitness, that the old body may not agree.

ONES HEALTH AND WELL BEING ARE PARAMOUNT. I hope all is well when you get the tests back.

Happy Holidays!

Good luck Slat1! Stick around and keep us posted; you have a lot to contribute with your knowledge and experience. I too am going to give up the gear once I reach a certain goal. They can be beneficial and help tremendously in the beginning, but most of the health problems come from long-term use. I've only done a few cycles, so I still want to experiment for awhile, but I know I will give them up some day just like you. I am definitely interested in your progress without gear, as I too will be doing it someday. Let us know what works and what doesn't.

hey slat, glad to see you've made your decision. you are well respected for doing so.

hey bro
i havent been on in 1.5 years and i know what you mean about "missing" it briefly but at some point in life if you dont compete at a high level and just do this as somewhat of a hobby ,so to speak, then walking away makes sense....with the daughter turning one today i have alot more priorities that require alot of money and time, i still get my time in the gym but i cant focus on it like i did...so like you (or should i say like you were until today as i havent fully decided yet) im at a crossroads where perhaps walking away is the best thing.....congrats on the decision and stick to those guns....goodluck and drop by, i havent cycled in a while but im still here (much to the chagrin of some :) )
