Undereating on a CKD bad ?

How important is maintaining calories on a CKD? I sometimes eat only breakfast and take a protein shake to work ( that's all I have save for a diet soda or some wylers lite raspberry juice ( 5 calories, 1 gram carb per serving, crystal light seems to exit me through the rear just as quickly as I drink it ) , and then have a protein shake before I workout and one afterwards and sometimes that's all for the day. I take 3-4 teaspoons of UDO's Choice Oil Blend, which helps up the calorie count a bit while providing EFA's, but will I see better results if I eat more and more often?

I'm thinking of taking some others advice and buying a lot of bulk meats, chicken breasts and tenders, veggies, steaks, and cooking them in advance and putting them in tupperware in the fridge so I can just take them out and re-heat, sounds like a good idea.

Main problem is that I hate my family surroundings and can't stand to cook / eat around them so breakfast is usually the only meal I can cook alone and in peace ( whilst their high insulin levels from their lovely high carb pre-bed meals store fat, I awaken protein replenished and do morning cardio on an empty stomach ), when I get home from work, the scavengers of unemployment are about, and I can't stand it! So I hole myself up in my room and deprive myself of my precious protein! ( hopefully my over-dosing of 5-HTP should help with that! )

You need to be more specific. What are your stats and and how many calories are you taking in right now? Do you know how much of the calories are form fat and how much are from protein?

If you are running a CKD, and this is your Ketonic phase. Without even looking at the external factors (stats etc.) I can already tell you're using too much protein and not enough fat.

Like Myth mentioned, stats and more specifics of ratios?

P.S. if you can't be around your family then I recommend cooking late at night for the whole NEXT day

My stats are:
22 y/o male
5' 11"
189 lbs ( once was 300 lbs )
b/f % ( no clue but somewhere around 12 % if I had to guess )

My goal is to drop all the excess fat, I've managed to go down from a size 44 waist to a size 34 waist, and I've toned up quite a bit, it's just the matter of the pockets of fat; my love handles have gone down CONSIDERABLY with low carbing and Yohimburn, but there is still some left;

How can I up the fat intake ? Just down some more UDO's ? I started eating some handfuls of peanuts to help with the fat intake also.

I thought even on a CKD I'd need to do 1g / lb LBM , and I only do 2 servings of protein at a time 44 g's of protein about 3 times a day, or if I skip a meal ( which is often )

Thanks

First, let me congratulate you on loosing all that weight, but now we have a task ahead.

The ballpark ratio for the CKD .8g protein/2g fat. However, to get that fat is not easy as you mentioned, here are some choices that are good: MCT, Flaxseed, UDO'S (probably the best), olive oil, walnut oil

I would drop the 44g protein and divided that into smaller portions like 20-30 g per sitting.

Hey...congrats on you're progress.

Watch the 5-HTP though, it is possible to suffer from serotonin overload.

Unless you have a deficiency, there's no need to supplement with 5-HTP for long periods of time.

Actually, 5-HTP can be beneficial for long periods of time, even though there is no deficiency. It's workings are not directed at the same part of the brain as the orginal (harmful) serotonin inducing forumal were.

Thanks! It felt great losing the weight of a small adult in pure body fat! Only problem is I can't stop what I'm doing, even though I know how to maintain my weight, I have to do cardio every morning and evening, and I'm always scared to shove something with more than 10 carbs in my mouth ( it's scary being 300 lbs ! and I don't want to go back, although I know that knowing what I know now, I 'cannot' go back, I couldn't allow myself to do that )

Now back to my 'original' question which was never answered :P, about undereating on a CKD, If you eat below your CKD macronutrient breakdown, does it impact negatively or positively on your fat loss ?

BTW, when I bumped my 5-htp dosing from (2) 60mg caps 2 times daily to (4) 60mg caps 2 times daily, I feel much happier and I feel like doing shit ( although it's still difficult to get myself to do it, I actually FEEL like doing something ) it also makes me forget to eat, which sometimes is bad!

BTW Mr. X, please create some global organization that forces all your knowledge onto people everywhere, we would all be better off that way! You could call it Special-K, InK. :P

bwahahahahah @ "special-K" you guys are toooo funny...

Eating below micronutrient ratios can prevent the best fat-loss if not enough fat is eaten when compared to protein; however, overall if proportional ratios are taken out, then you're fine.

The reason I ask is because two weeks ago when I started documenting my weight ( only ) pre-carb up, post-carb-up and post-keto-week. My weight basically stayed the same from week to week give or take a pound or 2, I noticed fat loss but didn't notice weight loss, and I was wondering whether it was the lean body mass I was gaining that was offsetting the fat loss, or if I brought myself into an early stall-mode from not eating enough. Or if it was because I was consuming so much protein and not enough fat ( as you stated earlier Mr. X ) that most of the protein was turning into glucose and I was actually just 'maintaining'.

I read over your CKD Manual which is excellent by the way, and I'm going to adapt my diet to ratios you provide and see where I get with that.

Oh btw, at what point does dietary fat turn into adipose ? or doesn't it at all.

Well, like I said, give the new ratios a try and tell me how the fat-loss goes. Now, as for the dietary fat, it doesn't get store in Ketosis (unless you get up to 5000-10000 cal), for it's used for energy.

'lil update

I know it's not the end of the week but I have a small update.. after switching ratios, I already 'feel' much better, I feel fuller, and just more 'upbeat', my grandmother visited on Sunday and she did not recognize me when I came up the stairs, seriously, she didn't know who I was. ( She hadn't seen me for a good 9 months ) She immediately told me to stop losing weight and stop giving her the weight that I lost :) We weigh the same but I'm 5' 11" and she's 4' 11" :P

I just have to stop myself from buying the 'turkey' variety of products, or at least reducing them, because they have little fat and lots of protein which will make me hit my protein limit before I hit my fat limit. My sister said from the back I look like my older brother, now he is SKINNY as hell and can eat whatever he wants and not gain a single ounce, so I know something has to be working, I'm gonna start pissing on keto stix in the middle of the week to see if I hit ketosis, I really don't know if I ever did because of the high amounts of protein I always took in.
