CLAST EXAM OR EXEMPTION

All students must meet with an advisor after completing 18 credits, and before earning 60, to discuss either taking the CLAST exam or applying for the CLAST exemption.

....

I have 64 credits.

Uh-oh.

I wonder what the ramifications of this are. I mean, it says I must take or apply for exemption from the stupid test before 60 credits, but I have 64. This must mean that I can't take/be exempt from the test.... but I need to take/be exempt from the test to get my meaningless piece of paper.... but if I can't take/be exempt from the test.... that means I can't get my meaningless piece of paper.

Maybe they will make me start over from 0 credits again?

GORDON RULE REQUIREMENT

<blah blah blah>
Gordon Rule courses must be completed within the first 60 credits.
<blah blah blah>

I have like 2 or 3 Gordon Rule courses left to take - I think. "Philosophical Analysis" and "Modern American Civilization" it seems. And I have already taken 60 credits!!! Oh no! Does this mean that I won't be able to take those two classes that are absolutely incredibly super important for my future as a computer programmer? Ahhhhh!!!!

Let's see what else I can find on this stupid sheet......

Ah! Here's one.

INTENDING A MAJOR

After completing 30 credits students may Intend a Major at the Advising Center. After earning 60 credits, students officially declare their major in the Registrar's Office.

I haven't done either of those things. Hell, I started school with more than 30 credits. Oh my.

Could this be the end of Warik? Find out later after I visit an advisor later for a hardcore bitch & complain session.

aaah yes, school shit is in the air for us college people..august is the hell month for those who are use to the semester system....scheduling classes, program requirements, etc...

good luck warik...anyways where do you go to school? what's your major?

Are you going for a BA or BS?
Usually the number of philosophy requirements is less for a BS and starting salaries are higher.

Kak,

I go to Florida International University and I'm a Computer Science major.

john,

BS. It's not a "Philosophy" requirement exactly, it's a "Critical Inquiry" (what the fuck is that?) requirement. "Philosophical Analysis" seemed the most interesting and least wasteful (although still extremely wasteful IMO for a CS major) of all the possible choices. Other choices include "History of Ideas" and "Approaches to Literature."

At first I thought it was all about the money, but then I realized it wasn't because I actually asked if I could be exempt from the classes if I agreed to still pay for them and they actually said NO! What kind of way to run a business is that???? That's the equivalent of me going to Best Buy, handing the cashier a $100 bill and not being allowed to leave the store until I buy something!!! Ridiculous.

-Warik

Take the History of Ideas warik... you'll be facinated with it.

Liar. That's just a trick by you to get back at me for calling you an old man a few minutes ago.

I'm usually not fascinated by anything unless I need a telescope or nice computer to see it... what kind of "ideas" do I "learn" (note the quotes) about?

-Warik

I'm not lying to you and I really didn't need to know you use a telescope to find your tool.

It probably deals with how convergance works. It could give you a fundamental back ground into pulling together seamingly unrelated events or inventions to derive a new product or service.

I need a telescope to find the end of my tool.

There HAS to be some way to weasel out of those two ridiculous classes. I need a class with lots of debate and hopefully a socialist teacher and liberal classmates. That's how I survived English II (despite the fact that I took it in HS and should have been exempt from it in college). Class reads book... teacher presents his liberal viewpoint... class accepts his liberal viewpoint, Warik takes them all to school.

-Warik

LOL!!!!

Take a few classes in German or something...this is how I ended up with a Foreign languages degree. I filled all my electives with language classes. Then I went back and finished the language degree two years later. LOL!!! It was somethig to do...

critical inquiry HAHAHAHAH... :(
actually ive been sitting here for the past few hours trying to get some decent hours to enroll in

i'm in hte shittiest classes and only have "8" hours actually enrolled so far. this schools system is so jacked up its not funny. i figured it out, but anyone else probably has to go to counseling to get tthis figured out. they literally force u to, just to enroll in "business" classes.
fuck that. the counselor i have to deal with probably has no more than a 105 IQ. talk about annoying. she relishes her simple job.

AHH thats my rant for now. i'm still waiting for her email back.
