Don't compromise your good heart brother. Be nice but firm, do not take shit and do not let people walk all over you. I am a very nice person in real life but I (usually) do not let people fuck with me or try to fuck me over..such as bosses, friends etc...

I used to think that way before I met the most amazing girl in the world now I have no worries bro (well of course I still have worries) anyways....stay nice bro....besides..if you were an asshole about getting stuff and just one in general I can't imagine having a happy life.....and nice guys usually finish last, but when they don't finish last they finish first

Well - I used to think that.
I try to go out of my way to be nice to people and do what I can to thelp them. God has rewarded me with a great life and a wife who is so hot, that I still can't believe that she picked me. So no. Nice guys do not always finish last.

Shit i was the opposite. When i was under 21 years of age i was an asshole and treated girls like shit. My guy friends i treated with respect but even there i had my tendencies to go off on them. It was when i turned 23 that i realized i had to be nicer to women in general and especialy my girlfriends. Things worked out for me yet i still go off hard on people. I have psychological problems though.

if you are into math, then game theory shows that to be at either extreme would lead to eventual failure and the success will be those who exhibit both traits - and ideally the ones that execute them in a beneficial manner to themselves for the largest gain based on the scenerio

i think its possible for nice guys to finish first. just dont be such a nice guy that you put yourself in a place to be taken advantage of, that's all. keep trying, and keep the good attitude (im assuming you might be getting discouraged lately). just keep your head up, and people will see your good qualities. i wouldn't have believed that last year, but i kept a good attitude, and people see good in me now because of it. good guys can finish first. peace.

Being nice is good. It becomes a problem when people take advantage of your kindness.
People tell me I'm a nice man, I don't know. I try to treat people with the respect and kindness I want to be treated with.
Do people take advantage of that? Yeah some do. The trick is knowing who is using you and seperate yourself from them.
There are people that will use you no matter how you behave, you just need to find better people to be around. They will repect your kindness.

NO, I dont think it is that simple-----too much of a blanket statement.
Be yourself and make no appologies.
Be 'nice' b/c it is the right thing to do, not to get ahead.
Many times 'nice' people get dumped on b/c they surround themselves with sorry asses.
Be carefull who you hang around.
Try to have a positive effect on them, as opposed to their bad habits and outlooks rubbing off on you.
Assume leadership.
----but lead by example. A positive example speaks volumes to the impressionable.

An asshole is someone who gets their steak cooked incorrectly and bitches out the waiter.
A nice guy is someone who gets their steak cooked incorrectly and politely sends it back to be redone.
A schmuck is someone who eats the damn steak and leaves a ten dollar tip.
Sometimes schmucks are confused with nice guys. There is a big difference.

Being an asshole is just stupid, imo. For some odd reason, women seem to find it appealing, but I'll be damned if I'm going to alter my personality just to get some girl's attention. I've found that with girls, you can still be "nice", as long as you've got a little bit of attitute to go with it. Just be honest, say what you mean, and don't put up with any bullshit.
That being said...i've acted like a _total_ asshole around women in the past, and it worked like a charm. So I can see why so many guys do it. That's not for me anymore though.

im with corn on this...at times i try and act like a real hard ass bad boy, exspecially after the bullshit droped on my life recently.
but inside i know im a god loveing man...a lot of great things have happened in my life, i believe in some sort of karma system, for good people, but i also enjoy helping others.
im sure ill be rewarded for this someday...but its really hard to be a nice or decent man with womens attitudes these days...
