U.S. Flags banned for being "offensive"

School Children Told American T-Shirts 'Not Appropriate'

School Children Told American T-Shirts 'Not Appropriate'
Assistant Superintendent Says Incident Was 'Mistake'
Posted: 6:41 p.m. CDT September 14, 2001

PASADENA, Texas -- Most Americans, including children, want to show their national pride by wearing the colors of the United States flag -- the red, the white and the blue.
But when two Pasadena children wore T-shirts showing their pride, they were told it wasn't appropriate, according to a News2Houston report.

Because today was deemed a national day of prayer and remembrance by President Bush, Desert Storm veteran Donnie Meyer wanted to pass on patriotism to his two daughters. So, he allowed his 7-year-old and 9-year-old to wear T-shirts with the American flag emblazoned on them to school at McMasters Elementary School.

He never thought there would be a problem.

However, the school's principal asked 7-year-old Ashley to change her shirt because it wasn't part of the school's dress code.

The Pasadena Independent School District's assistant superintendent points out that McMasters remembered Tuesday's tragedy during several school programs Friday, and the T-shirt incident was merely a mistake.

The school district maintains that they allow each school to determine its own dress code, but Assistant Superintendent Kirk Lewis said that the Meyer children and other students will be allowed to wear American flags on their shirts on future similar occasions like today's remembrances.

When I forwarded the article to a friend here at work, he told me that he had people muttering the same type of thing here; that US displays of patriotism are inappropriate.
What absolute bullshit.
I have GOT to move to a less Liberal city.

I called Bill Schremf, the CEO of NCCI Holdings today. His personal voice mail box is a message from his admin saying that the ban on displays of the flag had been lifted, and that the company is NOW giving flags to their employees if they wish to display it. Also, they are encouraging employees to wear red, white and blue lapel pins to honor the vitims!!

If you wish to call him the # is (561) 893-1000 ext. 5

Boca Raton I can almost believe but PASADENA, TEXAS. I am ashamed of this "Texan". I can only prey he was transplanted from somewhere else. Those refinery working, tobaco chewing, beer drinking rednecks in Pasedena should fire-bomb the fucking principal's house. What a fucking idiot.

There wouldn't BE any schools or companies if it wasn't for the flag. Wait...are people getting dumber or has it always been this way? Isn't that censorship?

Then come to Austin. bwaahahahahahaha

Oh, yeah. Pasadena sucks ass. And smells like it too.

It seems to me that Liberals just aren't getting away with shit that they would have gotten away with before the WTC tragedy.

Pledge of Allegiance

The Nature Boy said:
who would be offended by the flag? next thing you know the pledge of allegience (sp) is offensive.

The Pledge already is considered offensive by many liberal educators. It is not recited every morning in most schools the way it was when I was a kid. Maybe it's time to start doing that again, along with allowing prayer in schools.

this is taken from NCCI.com's website- http://ncci.com/ncciweb/ncci.asp?lf=/myncci/login.asp?resource=/ncciweb/index.asp&mf=ncci_main.asp

I guess they realized that they were going to piss off alot of people.

NCCI Changes Position,
Gives Employees American Flags

(Boca Raton, FL) NCCI Holdings, Inc., today announced that it has changed its position on flags in its workplace and offered any employees who wanted them American flags and red-white-and-blue lapel ribbons as they entered the workplace this morning.

President & CEO Bill Schrempf said he was meeting with employees this morning to explain the company's change and apologize for not permitting them to display the American flag on Friday during the National Day of Prayer and Remembrance.

In announcing the change, Schrempf indicated that NCCI's senior management team met over the weekend and decided to reverse the company's longstanding position, which had been intended to protect employees.

This morning, the company took the following actions concerning the display of the American flag by its employees:
1. Any interested employee can display an American flag on their desktop. Flags will be provided for this purpose, if employees would like to have one to display.
2. Red, white & blue lapel remembrance ribbons are being provided for those who want to wear them.

For general NCCI information, contact Michael Bullard, Chief Communications Officer, 561-893-2080, or Greg Quinn, Media Relations Coordinator, at 607-723-7878.

Unbelieveable! Your flag being considered offensive in your country. We need to deport those jackasses to antarctica. I guess they would consider ice offensive.
