Sorry about the post on this board. But that google search kicks ass. I love the fact that you can now do a search for phrases instead of words. And that you have all the google search options....

I am reffering to the google search option on this board btw.

It has not been helpful to me. I usually use the search to see what peole are saying about me, and find the constant threads I am not suscribed to where people ask me questions and never send me a pm to the link. Searches for BBF only revield about 19 threads, and most of them are old. I have found 9 that were posted TODAY with the word BBF in them that google does not pic up. As a generally rule, I was finding about 30 threads a week just hitting BBF in the search engine taht I would not have seen otherwise. Oh well.

It doesn't find jack shit for me.

george at the top of teh screen, third link from the right it says "search". Where the old EF search used to be.

Ehh, I guess it depends what youre using it for.

Before I would have to do a search on "Primo and Deca Stack" and it would find all posts that contained all words, no matter where they were in the page. Now I can do a ( with the quotes ) "Primo and Deca stack" OR "Deca and Primo stack" and it will either of the 2 exact phrases in a particular thread.

I am not sure if this type of search functionality was available before, but if it was I wasnt aware of how to use it.. You guys should check out the google advanced search option on http://www.google.com/help/refinesearch.html if you get a chance...

slash, ok, so if you know alot about the search engine how would I find a single word, and only view recent posts of it? Say those within the last 3 days. For example the word BBF actaully appears over 1000 times in EF posts, but the google search only shows 19, and they are from completely random forums from random dates. It does not include anything posted in the last 2 weeks.

I am guessing here but from what youre saying it seems to be a bug. I dont know the specifics on how the google search engine interacts with the EF site. Does it have some type of cache of pages? Or is installed directly on to the Board Software? Are the pages databased? What subset of the pages does the google search engine have access to?

Again I dont want to speculate but from what youre saying it sounds like theres some type of caching happening with the pages and not all of them are getting reached.

As far as finding pages from a range of dates , I guess something like this should work 'BBF "May OR Jun OR Jul" 2004' .

where the fuck is this google search engine? www.google.com ????

georgie24,

Since you are Platinum, you are using Platinum Search by default. A non-Plat gets Google/Elite search by default. To use Google, if you are Platinum, go to the advanced search page. The Google option is at the bottom ot the page.

The URL is:
http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/search.php

BodyByFinaplix,

Platinum Search would be better for this function and for any search of very recent threads by a specific poster. Google is great for relevancy searches. For example, a search if Testosterone will yield the most relevant pages first.
