I havent been on here in a while but came across something today and need to rant about it a bit...
i am in college and someone told me today that they put starch on the vegetables at tje salad bar in the cafeteria to keep them fresh bc they leave thme out all day!! How gross is that!!!! What should i do? stop eating salad? but what am i gonna put in place of that? man i am so disappointed..
ok heres the other question..
Once you ahve had something you are not supposed to have, how do you stop yourself from getting out of control and eating lots of other shit? because i ahve been really good but every once in a while i slip up and then i just cant stop and it turns into a mega binge...what do i do? any suggestoins?

Solution for question#1...Take your own salad. My wife always make her own salads at home and takes it to work.

As far as getting out of control with binge eating. Try consuming a few glasses of water before eating. Most people confused dehydration with hunger. The water will fill you up and you will not be as hungry.

I don't buy the starch on the vegetable story, that falls into the old rumor that they also put salt peter in the food.

but more importantly, when many vegetables are cut and left in the open certain ones can lose up to 50-60% of there nutrients (mostly C and A vitamins) which almost defeats the purpose of eating the salad except for the soluble fiber content.

get to the salad bar early as soon as you can.

I don't know exactly what it is you are binging on, but my suggestion to you would be to try and portion it. The more effort you need to go to to get the "bad" food, the less you will do it. If it is like chips, crackers, ect., the put them on the top shelf and towards the back. Out of sight out mind. I have a ridiculous obssession with Wheat Thins and this is what I do with them. If it is chocolate try having sugar free hot coco. But sometimes giving in to yourself is OK, just take a little and put the rest back and go into a different room. If you resrtict yourself to much or fill on empty carbs, you might make the craving worse and end up doubling on empty cals and carbs. I hope this helps.

Being in college sucks for eating well, but hang in there, it gets better.
