Have you started any boxing specific weight training, and what type of neck exercises do you do?

Aslo how much do you have to run everyday??

I'm really starting to get more into the boxing traing routine and moving away from the bodybuilding workout.

Any info would help out.

I was already in pretty good shape when I started to train for boxing. I ran about 12-15 miles a week and lifted twice a week. When I started training for boxing, I started to do a lot more ab work, sprint work and other stuff like jump rope training and shadow boxing with 5lb dumbells.

My favorite routine is to work the rope, flutter kicks and shadow boxing w/weights in 1 min intervals with 30 sec rest in between. I got so I could do 12 sets in a row, which was about an hour workout.

Of course, get as much ring work as you can with a good coach. It is a great sport to train for, and the sparring matches are awesome, except when you get hit real good, but you learn to minimize that!

cool, thanks I'm in pretty good shape too.
But I need to run more and I have to train at home because there's no boxing gyms anywhere even remotely close to me, so I have to do everything on my own.

What about neck exercises? Any certain things you do for that?

I did not specific neck exercises, but it makes sense to do so. My neck got sore after taking punches while sparring, and recovering from that helped me to withstand it better each time.

Maybe you can find a partner and spar in your garage or something. Just make sure you use wraps on your hands and secure the gloves properly. Headgear would be a good idea too. A mouthpiece is essential. I plan on trying to pick some boxing gear up on Ebay so I can train at home as well.
