Trying to get results .... Need Help (new)

I really like training but I have seemed to be at a
platu for like the past two years now. Now I am ready
to try to make some headway. I've tried training with
heavy weights, light weights, hi-reps, low-reps and
body for life without seeing a whole lot of change.
I'm about ready to give up on ever being able to make
any change. If I didn't just simply love the way I
feel after a good workout, I would have given up a
long time ago. I look pretty good
with clothes on, but I'd like to look more like those
fitness women with my clothes off:-)

My body seems real resistant to change. I'd like to
gain some more muscular size but I can't seem to. Is
there any specific routine you'd recommend? I saw something about HIT in the training group. Has anyone used that with good results.

Also, I've been doing body-pump for the last couple of
moths (have you heard of it). I enjoy the class and
it sure seems to make my workouts go faster, but I
wonder if I am wasting my time doing those?

I am also confussed about protein supplements. Is it a must have or a waste of money. Some say you need 1 gram per body weight others say you get enough through your normal diet. (See why I'm confussed)

Love to talk to anyone who might be able to help.

hi and welcome:) Can you post a sample diet?? Diet is like 90% of it! When it comes to training you cant go wrong w/ heavy intense weight training. No light weights and high reps..it will do nothing for you!!! If you want to lose bf and increase lean mass it takes clean diet and heavy training..consistently! Real food is your best meal...bars and drinks in emergencies etc. Complex carbs...@ least 1 gallon of water a day. Give us a lil more info so we can better help you out.

i'm agreeing with New, diet and heavy weights are the way to get the best results...

welcome to the boards, read up and you'll find lots of info...

Hi and Welcome to Elite Becky :) I was wondering what the body pumps workout was???? Never heard of it.

Welcome!

I'm no expert, but I'll tell you this -- I've learned a huge amount just by lurking and reading the boards here. Scan the old threads, and do lots of searches on the current threads and the archives -- there's an amazing amount of knowledge in there.

Good luck!

I believe Body Pump is a group excercise class using intervals of free weights and cardio (usually step and hi-impact aerobics)

Welcome! Since you love the way you feel after a workout, you're way ahead of most people. No need to give up. We all reach sticking points that tell us it's time to change something in our workouts and diets. You've come to the right place for all that info.

Ann, are you the same person I talked with from another discussion board that turned me on to this site? Just wondering.
