Trouble in Mexico???

Anyone ever been "shaken down" by the local policia in Mexico (TJ specifically)?

A friend went down this weekend to a local granero and after he came out, him and his buddy were about half a block away when two policia came up to them and demanded ID and searched them. They found a couple bottles of gear and told them they were in "big trouble" and that it was a felony to have the stuff. They put them into the car and drove them around the block two or three times while one policia was having a conversation on the cell phone (not sure with who-if anyone) and looking at the bottles of gear during the convo.
The cops told them they were in big trouble and that they were going to have to "pay" to get out. The cops threw out $800. My buddy said they had $150. He snuck $40 into his shoe while riding around in the car. The cops took the $150. The cops then took them to the border...only around behind a building. Cops gave them the stuff back and told them to keep this quiet and that they were letting them go. Friends hid the stuff to come back the next day just in case the cops had contacted someone at the border. Went across the border with no problems.

Anyone else ever had a similar experience?
I think they had to pay too much to the cops.
Does anyone think the granero was involved and maybe got a little kickback?
Ive never had that experience...but it worries me a little.

Anyone???

Yes it happens.

It happens LOT.

Ths is just one reason why we say that peopel are NOPT to discuss detaios about how and where to get gear across the border.

The cops WATCH THE PHARMS and GRANEROS.

They may even pay off some of them. Cab drivers have been reported to be inb on it as well.

And before some smart ass chimes in and says "well, I know that you can buy this and that in Mexico and its legal", please ...... kindly shut up. I want you to tell me, how .... when YOU are picked up by the cops, or by the FEDERALES, how you are going to start playing Mexican Johnny Conchran and start quoting Mexican laws to them.

There used to be several great graneros in TJ for buying stuff and now they are watched far far far too much becuase some peopel on tbe b aords blabbed about it.

I dont go there, I have not gone for ages. But I have friends that have gone there and have had to deal with the mexican corrupt cops becuase of these problems.

So yes, people get shaken down.

People get money taken from them. People have gotten beaten up, shocked (thats with electricity guys), dumped (taken god-knows-where after being dreained of cash and having their ass kicked and just rolled out of a vehicle and left) and generally hassled.

AS are legal substances in Mexico and latin america, so it's not ilegal to have these products there, only they are mexican corrupt cops, they arent customs......I would suggest to go there with some friend that speak spanish because these cops are a mother fucker and maybe they are working for the owner of that pharmacy.........

Taking notes

I'm planning a trip south and keep everything in mind you guys say.

I've heard of this before as well...

;) But they got to keep the gear......makes me happy!

That is a common experience.

Within the past couple of years the mexican police have started search everyone walking back to the border. Walking out of a Granero just increases your chances. Pharmacies are a little less risky, but not by much. I have seen them haul 60 year old men away in the back of a car as they walked out of the pharmacie with their meds.

There are a few things to do when going down south for a run, but they wouldn't be nearly as effective if I posted them here on this thread.

I swear I've seen this EXACT same story before. Did you copy this from another post?

nope. never had that experience before either, but it makes me concerned. I usually go to a place that is rather out of the way, but these guys went to one quite close.
They said there was a guy who came up to them after they got out and asked if they wanted "massages" or naked girls, and they told him no. Then he asked if they wanted a farmacia and one of them told him to "fuck off" that they didnt need anything. The guy crossed the street and before they got to the end of the block the cops got em. As they were being put into the car the guy they told to "fuck off" was standing right there watching it all. I told them I think he was in on it for sure, and they shoulda been nicer to him and not told him to "fuck off"!!!

by the way...I told them they probably couldve gotten off for cheaper...maybe $50-80 to these guys.

Anyone know what the average bribe is they would take to let ya go?

God, this makes me nervous...lol

I'd walk into a couple and not buy anything to shake anyone tailin you. also, I believe it is legal to posses those items, but with a prescription. But then again, feel free to look around and see if anyone is tailing you. If you want to play it even safer, have your buddy waiting around the corner and pass the shiz nit to him. Oh and one more thing, NEVER NEVER NEVER BUY A DAMN THING FROM A CAB DRIVER.
Peace yo

Yo ARIST, anabolics aren't "legal" in Mexico. There are two types of drugs farmacias can dispense, kinda like the schedule here in the states. The first type (can't remember name, researched it 2 years ago) don't need a script- the others do. I know down in Juarez some farmacias will shy away from those lookin for anabolics, yet some will have no problem showing you their stock. I've never been shaken down by the law down there but would keep a c note for them just in case lol :D

Same thing happened to me last year in TJ. I had about $500 worth on gear and less than $40 on me. They pulled us over leaving a Vet store and told me the same shit. They said steriods are illegal in Mexico without a presciption "receta". Then they threatened to take my friend and I to jail, blah, blah, blah...

Instead of arguing with him I asked him how much it would cost to be on my way. The cop said $200 and I had less than $40. He said that wasn't going to cut it and that I was going to jail. I had my ATM card on me so I asked if there was a local bank around. He had the gull to put me on the back of his motorcycle and drive me down the street to a bank where I withdrew the money and paid the fucker off. Then he had the gull to make suggestions as to how my friend and I should better stash the gear when driving across the border. We got scammed. There's no doubt about that. What are you going to do though?? You're in their country and you have to play by their rules.

Money talks... you got it, you can get alot in Mexico.

Yo Juice at least you didn't get bent over by a 350lb mexican sumo wrestler in a roach infested jail lol;)

No, that happened 11 years in TJ - LOL. I was drunk outside the Bambi club. You had to be 19 to get in and I was only 18. I started making a sceen and spit on the bouncer. Next thing I knew I was being plumbled by several "policia" and then thrown into the paddy wagon with several drunk mexicans that didn't much for the gringo. It gets much worse from that point....

When I get old, I want to retire to T.J and become a law inforcement agent.
I wonder how many guys get scammed and never tell us, or lie about the amount they give up when they are shitting thier pants. Heed the warning, buy local, but if you can't seek advice personally from the vets on this board. But if you choose to do it you way why not just send us the bribe money.

JA that is fuckin MISERABLE!!! A word to the wise- don't get caught in a mexican jail, it could be hazardous to your anus...

This happens a lot. I've stated many times that selling Juice is ILLEGAL in Mexico... even selling in the vet shops. Some shops have no problem at all... because they pay the cops. Unfortunately, the cops will shake the shit out of people buying from the competition.

I know one guy who ended up dead in a TJ jail... dead from the kidney blows. After he bled to death internally... they noosed a sheet around his neck and hung him for a day... told his family he committed suicide. The San Diego coroner raised a big stink that it was a homicide. Nobody was ever charged.

Don't piss off the cops in TJ.

Thanks for the confirmation on anabolics being illegal in mex Sofa. Whenever I buy shit down there it goes in my pockets and never leaves.

Exactly.

You know, some of you guys need to learn that all of your "badass" posturing, or the "I am an American and you cant fuck with me" attitudes don't mean JACK SHIT on the street of a place like TJ.

Hey - I am an Amercian and produ of it and dont like being fucked with, but when you are on teh TK streets, this does not go far. When 2-3 cops drive up . damn even 1 cop . and star to question you - what are YOU going to do? "Hey I know the law man, see ...... on this website I read .." LOL

Then maybe start a scene? Suurrrrrrrrrweeeeee..... then like 5 other cops wil be there in a second, and NOW what do you do? Are you goinmg to accuse that first cop of hassling you? Who are the other cops going to believe?

Plus, yes, the discussion of Mexican Law is interesting and may help to a SLIGHT extent, but that will not go far at all. Corruption is a HUGE problem in Mexico and with TJ cops in particular.

The more of a smart ass you are, the more you draw attention, the more you think that strutting around like some badass will protect you, the more the chances are that you will get nabbed.

You can go to TJ and have a great time, and be safe. A big parr of it is how your present yourself, how respectful you are, and how low-key you are. If you are smart you can go where you want and get what you want and have very few problems. Stand out, cop an attiutude,m fuck with people, get smasshed, yell and make a scene, looked big and ripped, or any of these ..... and you are asking for trouble.

Can you TELL I am pissed that a few loudmouths on the open boards blew a good thing for my friends? LOL

Just be smart guys.

I might as well throw this in the ring:

a while back I went to T.J. and bought a bunch of gear from a trusted source, well me and the girl I was with go to some market and start tearin the car apart stashing it everywhere like a couple of retards...next thing I know some cop is jabbering away in Spanish to the girl I was with, luckily she was mexican and spoke perfect spanish, but in the end we paid his sorry ass fifty bucks and he then proceeded to re-arrange the stash job in the car since he was our good buddy after we paid him, kinda made me wonder what kinda money I would need to buy off the whole city...

YO HE COMPRADO ESTEROIDES EN MEXICO and bullshit steroids arent ilegal in mex......you dont need receipts and less for veterinary stuff.......I have many years in that and anyone could tell you that these products are ilegal.......only these are corrupt cops that take easy money from nerveous people........

I say f#@k the border...go inland. Vacation in places like Cancun, Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta..no corrupt cops/hassles, no fake gear.
Mail the shit back. No problems.

Exactly! U can go and report them to a local newspaper. They DO get a penalty for that. PINCHES ABUSONES!!!

just a note to follow up...my buddies went back to TJ this week to where they had stashed the gear. Gear was still there and they brought it back without a problem.
Too bad I didn't know where they hid it!!!

Someone metioned it's all about the attitude i used to go to TJ a lot when i was in college (Last Year)

I was always respectful and was very careful about cops you would see them outside teh pharma's just chillin.

I think the best way to keep a low profile is just keep your head down and your hand in your pocket. Dress respectful and go during teh day.

If your in on a set-up then you really can't do much, but try to work a deal. Third world countries are shit for a reason and you should never for get that. We are so lucky to live in the USA even if we have some dumb drug laws.

I guess my advice is just be a savvy street smart kid when your rolling around tj. You piss someone off your on there turf and they own the rule book.

If people dont cross the border with money and get back with what they buy then word get out and Mexican merchants, police and everyone down the corrupt line loses(money). Believe me they want your dinero and would rather you make it back to come again another day. Low profile yes. They cant scare a person whose bought a pinata. Its also good to frequent the same granero or farmacia. If they get to know you, and associate a nice profit anytime you come by, your more likely to not have any problems. I alway go early in the day and get all of my necessaties early. The cops dont seem to start cropping up till late morning closer to noon. Baggy cloths, a gf, a fanny pack under the loose baggy shirt and a few margaritas before leaving-
onto the waiting trolly and off to the free parking at Palma.
