Triple Threat request to George

Love the stuff - (Triple Threat in case you didn't read the subject and just wildly clicked your way into this thread) - I have it 3 times a day.
The problem with that is that each serving has 100% of one's daily requirements for a mix of vitamins.
No big deal if you get 3 times your vitamin c requirements just from your shakes - any excess and you pee it out... but iron - WTF?!!
Men rarely have iron deficiencies, esp if you eat red meat at all - BUT it is feasible to get too much iron and there are many negative consequences related to that...

So my request is that you make a triple threat without the vitamins - they aren't adding flavor and they are adding cost for you - so make one that we can buy if we do't give a shit about the added vitamins or do care about the excess.

I understand that the stuff is likely made by some other place and you buy it and then resell it - but perhaps you can make the request with them.
I buy at the very least 2 tubs a month, one for at work, and one for at home - as does my coworker and we love the points we are racking up, and love the triple threat...

but the iron thing sucks

Good point Scrap.

Excess Iron can cause a host of disorders including other mineral imbalances.

I have too much Iron in my blood. I use leaches and the Red Cross to keep the levels in balance.

I realize that they were a big technological medical marvel when you were growing up, but Damn WODIN. Leaches are a little out dated.

while he was joking - they are actually making a comeback due to the fact that they release an anti-coagulant (sp?) into the blood - so it is helpful in surgery

There is no way you are absorbing all that iron, I'd be suprised if you would absorb more than 10% of the vitamins in any protein shake. The stomach acid plays a big role in vitamin absorbtion. peace

Yeah but the red cross part is true. Plus If I don't give blood magnets start to stick to me and I get real grumpy.

well, technically in the case of the iron - the acid in the stomach helps break it down from III to II, but the real absorption is in the duodenum (start of the small intestine) - which is actually a basic environment - not acidic - and that is where the II gets oxidized back into the III and absorbed very easily my the mucosal cells...

just out of curiosity - did you just guess at the 30% - or can you explain it more to me?

also the denotation between heme and non-heme is an important distinction - the heme is what is in most animals products - beef and the like. and non-heme is what is in plants.

I'm assuming that the stuff in the shake is non-heme - if that is the case, that is absorbed a lot less readily, but with higher levels of viatmin c (which are present) - you can override that.

In the case of the Vitamin C, its basically worthless unless alpha lipoic acid is a part of the triple threat mix. ALA is a definite neccesity to Vitamin C utilization.
In regards to the heme/non-heme business, I'm not sure where T Threat's proteins are derived from(I'm sure its of the highest grade) some whey is derived from milk isolates where whey such as isopure is entirely seperated from milk isolates. That would play a role in determining which is which(heme or non-heme) I would think.

I said 10%. It was just a number to be honest. Most Multivitamins like APEX or GNC's Elite line have a carrier and delivery system that has a better chance to get absorbed into the system and even still the entire dose does not get used, having said that and knowing that whey protein and its ingredients are very fragile in a stomach and have no protection or security that a Multi like the ones mentioned above would have I would be suprised if your getting 10% of the Iron and plenty of other "goodies" that are in the Tri threat mix. Hence, you have nothing to worry about, especially an Iron surplus. peace

I meant out of the entire shakes you consume, you're only getting maybe 10% of whatever you think you're getting.
