#1 - Lean bulking - show in 15 months and need a clean xx pounds........here's my question. In my previous life, I trained 7 days a week, and did cardio on most days in the am. Now here's my dilemma....: How many days a week do you take completely off from the gym? The pro I'm training with for a show in 15 months has me training 5 days a week, with the 6th being a weak bodypart session only if he feels necessary. No cardio, except this crazy glute ham stretch on the treadmill at 12% incline and 2.5 ramp...deep stretch. I see many dudes train 6 days a week easily and then there are some that do something every day of the week....so help me out bros.....how many off days and on your totally off days do you take in very very little carbs? That's the other thing. He still has me slamming carbs in my first 4 meals, then my 2nd 4 meals are proteins and fats. Why the hell do I need so many carbs when I'm sitting and being a lazy bum in the office all day? Rationalize with me. Tell me what I need to know! Thanks!

Nothing wronng with one bodypart per day - 4-5 days per week.

You are in and out of the gym in 30 minutes - 40 for legs

thats what he has me on...but Im so used to 7, it's gonna kill me...like today is my off day and I cant rationalize eating nearly the amount of carbs and cals he has me on when I have and will do nothing all day!

think of it this way.

A diet is like any other endeavor.

Consistency wil lead to results.

You mentioned he's a pro.

Please remember that they can recover from a LOT more volume than most of us....

I do a typical Mon-Fri routine(when Im not in a strength phase)

one bodypart per day - one session per day

NO CARDIO

I'll post up a pic from last year b4 my hiatus

JK, it is pretty individual and it depends on the actual workouts, there is no 1 correct answer. What Shadow said holds true, also, plenty of workouts can be 'extra workouts' for active recovery.......I still think somebody like you should be in the gym no more than 3 days a week, 4 at the absolute most at this point. The time off should be spent engorging yourself with calorie dense foods.

As far eating higher calories on non-training days, you need to consistently eat above maintainence, if you have 3 days a week where you don't get in enough calories, it is inconsistent and you may not be able to gain......same as a diet, if you eat perfect 4 days a week and pig out 3, you won't do yourself any good. Carbs and fats are a way to get in calories.....lean proteins are only so calorically dense, you would probably throw up before you could eat enough chicken to get in the calories you need to grow.

Only 5 days? Come on, you'll be doing AAS and it's impossible to overtrain when you're 'on'. You don't need to rest, recover or rebuild muscle and your CNS doesn't need any down time between heavy sessions. You can grow like a pro too, if you just train hard enough and get enough sleep. People set limits on themselves!
