Tragedy Strikes on Wednesday!!! While doing my first set of flat flies with 70lbs I heard a snap on rep 5! The weights when flying to the ground as I cluched my left pec. It swelled up like a balloon and I could not move my arm! I walked over to the clinic ASAP and got some pain killers and anti-inflamatorys as well as X-rays. I will find out next week what it is. I have never felt pain like that before. I thought I tore the pec muscle from the bone... it may just be a torn bicep cause its my bicep that is broozed and sore. Well the doc said no training for about 1 month. Well I can still do cardio, abs, and legs!
This sucks, just when things were heating up! Oh well- shit happens.

Dude, that sucks. Hope you heal up quick.

By the way, thats some pretty serious weight you were using. I've given up doing flyes, cause they have always caused me problems. Now if I want a good pump, I'll do cable cross overs instead.

I felt very strong and tight that day. They were the start of my flies/ incline press superset.

The 225lbs on inclines seemed very light during the warmup. All was good except that one fuck up!
No more heavy flies for me. (if I ever do them again)

Last week I did 65lbs X 8 reps. 70lbs was gonna be done for 8 also (or at least attempt it) So as you can see it wasnt very heavy for me.
Oh well...

that sux man...

I use about the same weight too. You think it was because you came down too low and gave TOO much of a stretch??? Either way, im gonna learn from ur mistake. No more heavy fly's for me. Good luck on the recovery. I sprained my chest a week ago. I cant imagine tearing it, gotta hurt like hell. Unbelievable discomfort, you use your chest for EVERYTHING. Couldnt even lay down without pain.

My form was good. I may have wanted to stretch more im not sure...

It felt like a rubber band snapping at the strecth position.

You know that hard wirey tendon that is on your arm pit, thats what I thought snapped. I was pretty scared!

I will get x-rays back next week.

But i can now move my arm so it cant be that bad anymore.

70lbs for flyes?!?! holy shit... thats some weight.

You in Alberta? Im in Calgary.

I['ve gone up to the 90's for incline flyes and never had any problems, the day I thought I tore my pec I was just doing flat bench, go figure

my goal was to reach 100lbs flat flies then go on to my incline press...

Oh well... no more!

no... the flies were my first exercise...

However I did warmup up on the incline press
135 X 5
185 X 3
205 X 3
225 X 3

They were all easy warmups...

Then I did fly warmups,

40 X 10
60 X 4

then I did the 70ls... did 5 reps then SNAP!

But all is good right now... bicep is all blue and a tad sore when I try to lift up my arm, but all is good so far...

We will see when I get the xrays back...

It was to pre-exhaust my pecs so the inclines would work my chest more then my delts and tris.

Its sort of healing okay now... still blue, green, yellow

If it was a torn pec, that whole side of your chest and upper arm would be black and blue. It doesn't look pretty.

Hopefully it's nothin gmore than a bad strain, but those colours don't sound good.

Best of luck

well I can move with only little pain. It might just be a bad strain- Thank god!It was actually pretty scary when I felt it.

Oh well... legs will get some much needed attention.

UPDATE

Well I went to teh doctors. My arm is moveable with no pain.
He said I just over stretched my tendon. I have not trained for 3 weeks now. He now said it may take a total of 3 months for it to me healed. :-(
What am I gonna do with my cycle I have been planning on taking???

Anyways... I am going to focus on "Super Squats". And just do heavy legs with some pulldowns and maybe a chest exersie if I can. If not delt press..

I am glad it is not a torn muscle or a totally ripped tendon, hopefully you get well before three months... A lesson learned the hard way, I wish it didn't have to happen to you... just focus on legs and come back with a vengeance
