nothing beats:

1) buy a toyota 5-7 years old. 4 banger. 50-90k. good deal on craigslist. $7-$10k
2) put aside $5g's for repairs just in case.

along with ins discount - u can drive that next 4 years, and only be out maybe $10-$13k.

my honda accord lasted me 3 years - and i got it for a whopping $4k. no probs.

I have a chevy 1/2 ton, but I baseically quit driving it because of shitty gas mileage and it has a 35 gallon tank(not fun to fill). So now it sits in the driveway while I drive my honda civic hybrid.
