tore my pec

think i tore my pec lastnight. headed back home to see the ortho. hopefully its minor but i'm severely swollen and sore. looks like me and the treadmill are gonna be best buds. anyone gone through this shit that can give me some pointers?

hey bro, sorry to hear that. to tell ya the truth, ive started injecting in pecs about 2+ wks ago, and they have been incredibly tight and im scared shitless to bench. feels like they are both gonna tear. keep us updated man
 
i had an injury in my shoulder in july, i gave it 1 month off and since then ive been training moderate level, there are days i feel more pain than others, im not fully recovered this will take time...

Be pacient, because injuries take time to heal, you will suffer with your psicological, but thats part of it.

If its still swollen you can take anti inflamatory in couple days and go for some ice. But dont go on forever with anti-inflamatories becuase they will make your injury worse.

Get it checked out, see if it was a tear, a tendon, or cartillage stress.

SOme people like heat, other prefer cold, scientifically there is a big contradiction in whch one you should use while healing, for me i feel better with ice aplication 20 min 2 times day.

Best of luck, injuries suck, but you will be ok.
 
if you really tore it completely then it would be black almost instantly. Everyone that i have talked to that has torn something very badly said within seconds it was black.

I tore my pec about 2 yrs ago and it did turn black and blue for a couple of weeks ( huge area - whole pec). Heard and felt a pop when it happened. You just have to take it easy for awhile .... no chest workouts for 6 to 8 wks at least. I started back too soon b/c it felt and looked better and tore it again. When it does finally heal you will have a slight defect b/c the part that tears will reattach in a slightly different position (that is if you really tore some of the muscle loose - which I did). If you go to a doc they may suggest reattachment - but it actually heals ok w/o that.

about 3 wks ( if its healed some) get on DECA and low dose test

from the get go you should be supplementing
4-5g flax/fish ed
4-5g vit c ed
1-2 calcium citrates ed
geltain ed
3-4 banannas ed
glucosamine 3x ed
2x multi ed


I just recoverd * knocks on wood* from a 8-13 week outer elbow tendon tear.

I think its a partial tear from my armpit to under my nipple. It is bruising and my arm is discolored all the way down to the top of my hand. I'm hoping it is a seperation of muscle layers. I think it went with the muscle instead of against the grain. I have about 50% mobility. Last night sucked. It throbbed intensly all night. Today on the plane home, it was tender but not as bad as last night. there is a distinct line on the bottom of my pec. I was dehydrated all day shitting like a duck. Should've known better to lift that heavy. I just started to flat bench again after over 2.5 year layoff of benching. I was doing 425 for 5 and on the fifth rep I felt a small pop and a tearing sensation from my armpit to just under my nipple. There is pressure on my shoulder, front and rear delts. I have an appt. tomorrow to get an mri, i'm praying everything is cool. Thanks for the words of encouragement.
 
Should have eased back into that weight boogs. Mentor and protege both down in one week, that blows. Did the protege blow the knee out squatting or doing something else? Can you see any deformity in the pec right now or is it too swollen/discolored to tell?

did you hear anything pop, and has it turned black and blue? if not, most likely you didn't tear your pec. but still get it checked out, and find out what the doc says.

IGF-1 is great for injury recovery if you can get some

No he was playing flag football. lol! I think he had it scoped and all is good. Lucky little fucker. I know I'd have had his little ass in another couple of weeks if not next week. I've never put up 425 for 5, well would have gotten 5 maybe 6 if it hadn't torn.

It felt really hot as it ran down my armpit into my chest. It felt just how you would imagine paper tearing. Not excruciating, but enough to let me know something was really wrong. I stood up and had to sit back down, I felt like I was going to pass out. My legs and hands got extremely jittery. I was scared shitless. I can do certain movements that don't hurt and others feel like someone is stabbing me. Going to the doc at 9am to get the MRI.

Yes I have been there a little over 7 months ago. The link above is my post with pics about my experience. What were you doing when it happened and what makes you think you tore it other than it being swollen and sore. Did you feel the muscle tear?

Ahh now that I read this, I would think that you've torn it. You may not even need an mri, I went to a ortho specialist and he knew right away after I took my shirt off that something was torn bad. He made me do a few movements while laying down and feeling my arm where the muscle should have been connected to the bone in my arm. He couldnt feel it cause I ripped it completely off the bone and the muscle and tendons were curled up in my chest.

I don't think it is a full tear. I go in at 1pm for an mri. Holding my son on my stomach when I'm laying down is impossible. Feels like someone is stabbing me. Other movements arent too bad just really sore like a bad ankle sprain. I'm praying its a pulled muscle or tendon. It would be devastating to lay off for 6 months. I'd lose 30lbs of muscle again. I hate that shit. Thanks for the info.

So much for 255lbs!!! From eveyone's description, a pec tear sounds like something I want nothing to do with. Hope it turns out be something more minimal. Good luck

MRI was done at 1pm. Sometime tomorrow I'll know what to expect. Its been feeling better everyday. I'm hoping being dehydrated magnified the pain and sensations and its just a pulled muscle or bruised. Anything but a damn tear. I can sit out 6-8 weeks and do cardio, but 6months. Fuck that shit, plus all the physical therapy. Man that will do some hurting on the will power. lol

Oh yeah it kills the will power. I'm still having a hard time getting back into the routine of getting in the gym and working out. It sucks to have to go and start benching the bar and then after a few sets my repaired pec starts to hurt and I have to stop. I feel like i'm 8yrs old. I was 210 and finally getting into great shape again and then tore the pec and maybe a month later I was down to 180.
 
Here's the MRI report:

Prominent tnedinopathy/partial tear of the supraspinatus with inferiorly place acromion, type-II acromion, and subacromial impingement.

Subacromial bursitis

No complete tear reliably seen

Sounds a lot better than a torn pec. How the fuck a muscle and tendon from the scapula to the shoulder could make my chest feel like it was ripping, I have no clue! But all in all sounds like some physcial therapy and I'm good to go. I'm fucking stoked.

Very sorry to hear of your injury many have had similar injury good luck to you
 
Thats good to hear. A full pec tear is a very long recovery, I tore my bicep tendon completely off and had to have it sewn back on with a kevlar one. I'm just now feeling 100% and that was 2 yrs ago. Just remember when you tear something once it's easier to tear again so take it easy even if it feels good.

BTW thats a great bench bro!
 
hop on some growth, low dose deka, low dose test, low dose var ( for a long time )

that will put your recovery on TURBO

I def hear you on that. I'm 8 months post op and I still have a long road ahead of me. I ripped everything out of my arm. The hardest thing was being stuck in a sling for 10 weeks trying to keep my arm imobilized. Physical therapy was no picnic either.

Almost have full mobility, but zero strength. I have an appt. on the 28th to see how much physical therapy I'll be doing. No more heavy shit for me. I didn't flat bench for a reason, should'be stuck to it. I did however burn 915 calories in 33 min on my treadmill. That was awesome ;)
