TWO Cambodian crematorium workers will face charges of cannibalism after getting drunk and allegedly eating the body of a man they were supposed to cremate, a report said today.
Soung Chet, 34, and Chan Seuom, 34, allegedly ate the remains of a homeless man, identified as 25-year-old Ron, who died of a drug overdose, the Cambodia Daily newspaper said.
Authorities were notified about the alleged crime after horrified villagers in northwestern Banteay Meanchey witnessed the men eating a right leg and hand with chilli salt.
"When authorities arrived, officers found partial remains of Ron's severed leg near the crematorium," a police spokesman said.
He said both men had confessed to cannibalism.
