too good to be true?

I was at the grocery store and saw this bottle of salad dressing in the diet isle.

It is from a company called Walden Farms and it claims to be Calorie free Sugar Free Fat free Cholesterold Free and Carbohydrate Free!

They make thousand island, creamy bacon, honey dijon, blue cheese, and ceaser, alfredo sauce and marrinera (sp) sauce all different kinds of bbq sauce all sugar, calorie , and fat free.

So I tried them.

They taste great! Really good. But how can something be calorie free? Not just one tsp. but two tablespoons?????? I mix it in w/ my tuna i no longer measure my salad dressing - The creamy bacon takes place of salsa......

is this too good to be true?

the fact its calorie free also means its carb, fat and sugar free. :) maybe theres hfcs in there....or is there calories in that?

Cabr-free part is easy; when it comes to fats, I believe they use some sort of a special fat derivative that does not get digested and goes straight through your system; you get the taste, but not the absorption.
Of course, too much will also give you the runs.

^ Don't quote me on that, though, I might be thinking of another brand.

it seems to be just water + preservatives + colorants + other additives for the taste

it is not bad (b/c low fat and carbs) but certainly not much healthy

It seems like it must be something synthetic and thus bad. Of course machines can make things that seem calorie-free, but why eat something you can't use? I just hope that flavoring doesn't ruin perfectly good protein.

what grocery store do you shop at? was it a health food store?

can you post the ingredients?

Its possible, but I'm sure it is nutrionally void a well. I generally find the olive oil or canola oil based one's that have 0 carbs on the nutrional label, and make sure they are low in sodium. I actually need the extra monounsaturated fats in my diet, so I don't mind the fat calories.

Here is the link to the nutrition information on their salad dressings and other products. As listed, there is no HFCS in ANY of their dressings!!

Thanks for posting about this! I will be stopping after work to pick some up. Also, if you are wondering where to get these products in your area, I just called the 1-800 # that's on the website, and they gave me a whole list. No waiting to talk to a customer service rep either!!

Thanks again,
