Abs......I hear of lots of fighters that train thier abs every day. Is that overtraining? How would you train your abs 1x 2x 3x a week?

heres a good one to train abs 6 days a week... got it from muscle and fitness

Day1- Upper abs Hard
Day2- Obliques light
Day 3- Lower abs hard
Day 4 -Upper abs light
Day5 -Obliques Hard
Day 6- Lower abs Light
day 7 rest.. its soulds like a lot but if u think about it , you use yr abs all the time for everyday things as well as stabilization during lifts.. so training a lot can be a good thing

its the same for calves , gotta train those hard and many times a week

There's no such thing as "lower abs." I mean visually you can point out the lower 2, but there is no way to isolate them. You hit your abs as a unit. Most exercises that people think hit the lower abs really are hitting the hip flexors (like leg raises), which is still a good thing.

Well when i do such exercises as leg raises etc. i definetly feel it in my "lower abs" .. I just think about them and squeezed the hell out of them and get an insane burn

whatever man....Stop posting in my threads unless you have answers to my questions.

Na, I work abs directly twice a week, then indirectly with things like zerchers squats and deads. I don't believe working them anymore is needed at all. My abs are very strong, but I guess that can be partly because I was training them about 4 years before I started lifting hardcore :).
Anyhow ya, I truely believe no more than 3 times a week is needed, under any circumstances.

K.

I would train them twice a week, 2 hard sets of bent-legged situps.

for bball I've had people recomend me do it twice a day and this is not comming from one person or just some joeshmoe, I think if you train them hard though, 4-5 times a week is enaugh

I guess its all for different purposes, but I'm not gonna argue about this cause you guys sure have a different opinion on this

P.S I cought a small part of this show on BET about a year ago and they were talking about usher and how he needs to maintain his body so he does 200 situps every night and some other stuff

I dont know though, maybe bodybuilding has a different purpose for abs or something but I was kinda shoked when I came here and people tell me its stupid doing abs more than twice, maybe cause you guys are hella concentrated on your diets

Doing situps won't give you abbs..honestly...i used to be a situp freak...i did them all the time..i could do like hundreds...bit trust me, i still had no abs. You just need to burn calories and stay lean,
