To Old to Grow??

growing painz

I need some serious advice..I was at my doctor's office today for a checkup and we got to talking about my health and working out..mostly because my blood pressure was pretty high..he didn't know of course it was because I am currently on week 3 of my cycle and d's make my blood pressure skyrocket...he asked me of course if was taking creatine or protein powder or any supplements or AS...I told him that I was taking a few different supp and mrp's...he then told me that at my age(I'm 28) it is useless to try and grow new muscle so taking supplements and or AS is a waste of money...I should just try to maintain the muscle that I have know by doing aerobic activities....I posted here because I was hoping there are some veterans out there around my age that can give me some advice on this.....I would love to hear different from anybody....I have been depressed all day......Thx

Your doctor is an idiot!!!! I've got you by 10 years and am able to GROW, without a problem!!!! Workout, diet, sleep, supplements and if you chose AS, and you will GROW. I know of one person at our gym who competes in various competitions and he is 54. He has made amazing improvments in the last year!!! Never let anyone tell you, you can't do anything!!! You decide!!!! Commit and then do it!!!!!

bro I'm 31 and a year ago I weighed 155 and now i'm 185 and my biceps were 13 1/2 and now there over 16 so your doctor is a fucking dumbass idiot who just wants to keep people unhealthy so he can continue to treat them and make lots o money......not saying your doctor is typical ....... just an idiot ..... go for it bro and grow all you want it's up to you

jajajaja

My friend

Thx..Bro's..........That makes me feel alot better:)....I was completely blacked out yesterday, after hearing that crap....it even ruined my workout....I appreciate all the help....the only reason I started to buy into it in the first place is because I kinda hit a platue the last few months and haven't seemed to be able to break out of it...then after hearing that It kinda started to make sense...anyway thx again for all the help.....

My friend, last july I had a group of cardiologists tell me that I would never be able to lift agin, based on the results of a few echocardiograms and other assorted worthless tests. It seems that I have some scar tissue on my heart as a result of a nasty viral infection that set in my heart two years ago. Currently I'm six weeks out from an NPC show, and I will do a NQ two weeks later. I get up at 4.30 a.m. each day go the gym and do at least an hour of cardio. Then I train 5 to 6 clients, workout with the weights for an hour or so, go home eat, fart around for a few hours then return to the gym to train a few more clients. I was put on a few meds, which I take as prescribed. Based on a recent stress test the Doctors are saying that my echo has to be wrong. My cardiologist is working with me to lead a normal life. A life that is normal to me, lifting, competeing etc. By the way I'm 45 and may step on stage in april in the best shape of my life. I'm going to bring it to the young guys.

Well, it's pretty much been said. Just as another example of the idiocy of your doctor's statement, since Jan 2001 I've cut my body fat in half, and put on over 20 lbs of muscle. I'm 35.

Fear not, my friend, and send your doc back to med school.

I'm 42, have been training for twenty years, and I put on lean muscle MUCH easier now than when I was in my twenties. When I was younger my fast metabolism kept me from gaining, but now I can really pack on the muscle, and also get much more ripped than when I was younger.

See my avatar for a picture taken a couple months ago. I sure didn't look that good at 25!:D

This Dog is 41,
Started serious program 1996 weight 180lb
Now 2002 weight 244lb 9% BF

Your Doc, ain't shit!!!

You will grow as long as you have the drive...

Take care friend.

Take in some pics of Ronnie coleman, and ask him how he is that big at his age. Id be interested to hear his answer.

Uh....check the birthday on your profile.

That doc is full of shit.
My age: 36
Started training last March - Weighed 165 lbs. - at 6.0"
One year later: Now at 218 lbs.
Bodyfat up some, but I'll be working on lagging bodyparts and cut for summer.

There's nothing in this world I hate more than someone trying to take away a persons determination and spirit.:destroy:

Good luck bro.:)

GP, I too say your current Dr is a Idiot. His advice is good for a couch potato. You need to find a dr that deals with athletes.I am 34 and like most of the oldies on this board am only just getting bigger and better. Keep growing and learning from this site and the people here. later Rockett

The most idiotic thing is that he said that to a 28 year old! I got serious about working out at 28 after a car accident left me with a broken back two years earlier. I started at 122 lbs at 5'-8". Yes, 122, not a typo. I'll turn 40 this June in the best shape of my life. I have gained about 80 pounds in the last 12 years! Hopefully, (my birthday goal) is to be at 205 lbs and less than 10% BF.

Don't let this so-called doctor discourage you. You have a list of testimonies to discredit him. Do it up right and get big!

Well, I guess there is a good reason why Platinum exists.

You won't get bullshit. Well, at least not much. :)

Most doctors, regrettably, know little about AAS. Or, I am beginning to think, general diet and nutrition for plain ordinary folk.

When I went for my recent blood test and told him what steroids I'd been on, all he could say was, "I really don't know much about steroids." Great. Fortunately, my liver values were all quite normal.

There you have it. And some good replies above.

Dexter (age 44)

I am still getting bigger and stronger and I am 42. I agree with all of the others who posted some variation of "your doctor is an idiot."

Unfortunately, most doctors are when it comes to exercise and nutrition. Out of the 112 accredited medical schools in the US, only 11 require a physician to take a course in nutrition, and none require a course in exercise prescription. Getting one of them to admit that they do not know everything is generally nothing short of a miracle.

Thx..Bro's for all your help and support!!...it is times like these that I'm glad I spent the extra$ for a platinum acct:).......It does amaze me how little doctors that go to school for years for medicine know about AS....I have switched doctors by the way..if that wasn't obvious after all the responses.......Thx again....

Rip that Doc's license up & send him back to med school---- I have already put on 10 lbs of muscle since late jan.......should i mention that i'm 50!!!?? RADAR
