Yes, then pass this along Mr.Skywalker...

I'd love to get the wits about me to start my own practice...

What area of law?

How are you on plaintiff's work for insurance cases? We have $100's of millions of it.

I was responding to the whole thing... nevermind

Well, my specialty is Trademarks and Copyrights. I'm pretty good at just about any type of transactional law, and have almost no trial experience (Although I have presented about 50 oral arguments before an administrative body)... I could work with "trial-prep" work... or even learn the trial scene, but I'd hesitate to say "Yes I can do it" for fear that I wouldn't be able to represent my client well enough... without the proper training.

I was doing fine until I read about you successful people. Now I feel like the failure that I am. Damn, damn, damn.

I didn't ask what I would change in the past, but what I would chnage in the present. People answered it in diofferent ways.

To be perectly honest, a few years ago, I was a typical "early 20's" guy with apprehensions, insecurities, fears, etc. I was probably my own worst enemy. I let a lot of stuff distract me, had very little understanding of things, etc. etc. I had a good IT job, but I was more concerned about drinking on the weekends than financial stability and long term goals.

Through some dumb luck I met an extremely smart and successful guy that I became friends with. He acted as kind of a mentor and I learned from his success....saw how he overcame these thigns and how he deals with business people, etc.

In short, I got plugged into a circle of people I might have had to work 20 years to see, and my progress was drastically accelerated.

I asked that post because I am developing some motivational speaking and writing, (available soon) and I want to try to develop some verbiage to convey those (near-universal) feelings.

What did the guy teach you? You seem to be doing pretty well for yourself. Did you just get hooked up into the 'inner circle' of self made capitalists or something.

Is this self made guy the same one from Long Island?

I know a self made millionaire too. He had an abusive childhood, was thrown out of home & dropped out of high school. He somehow formed his own companies, and was riding pretty high for a while leasing cranes & owning a car rebuilding company (among other things). I met him on a board for suicidal people when he was around 71. He was one of the biggest asshole i've ever seen.
How that relates, i don't know. Just saying he taught me nothing.

If you could look 10 years into the future, and look back on yourself now, what would you change about your life TODAY that would make your life better 5-10 years from now?

Realize that life is patiently waiting for me
