Hi!

searching for help...

4 weeks out to compete in ipf benchpress

want to open with 550, monday i did it from a 2-board...

---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdzZC53fjzM

do you think my setup is ok?

think i can do my opener without problems, but now i am wondering about how to train the following 4 trains to competition...

i think i am ready for competition, but there are 4 trains left..

don`t want the shirt to loose its "power"
but i am afraid of decreasing my strengh if i doesn`t hit those numbers the last couple of trains to competion...

what to you think about that..

please help!

thanks a lot

best regards
nero

I don't quite get your english entirely. You set up looks good. I think you handled that well. I like your arch.

I would think you could double or triple this weight with boards. Increase 20-25lbs at 1board. Then 2 weeks out another 20lbs with no board, and use that as your opener, something like that. We could definitely map out something for the next four weeks. Is 550 good for you weight where you competing?

Don't worry about the last two weeks for strength. Get some heavy training in for the next two "trains" but keep the volume low. Just go up to your opener. Work the groove of your shirt. You may want to practice your bar path and try to keep it from flying back up to the uprights.

The set up and rep looked good and strong. But, it looks like the hand off guy pulled your shoulders out while handing off to you or did it by helping the hand off guy lift the weight. ... I do that all the time and I have been working on it...Let the hand off guy lift, move and position the weight before you take it fully. But do not change things to close to your meet and get all screwed up.

What have you been able to touch with? I have a nice shirt that I was able to get touch 645 to 2 boards but can't get 700 to touch full range.

Good advice from majutsu and Bald Gorilla.

At this point you did the work now focus on technique, eating and resting. A week out do nothing but rest and eat, watch your weight if you have a specific weight class to compete in. Also try some mental training, imagine what you do from chalking up, setting up etc... to completing the lift. It will help you stay focused during meet day.
