Time to Add in Second Round of Cardio...

but I need some ideas for how to get it in. I can't get to the gym until after work and there isn't a gym close to my work that I can go to on my lunch hour. I thought about getting up earlier in the morning and running but the problem with that is I have two little ones and no SO to stay and watch them just in case something happens. They would be sleeping still but I don't think that would be too safe. So I'm looking for ideas to get in my second 30 minute cardio session before the competition in April....IT"S CRUNCH TIME!
 
Do you have a jump rope,you can do leaps,set a broom stick on the ground and step from one side to the other at a fast pace. There are many options you just need to be creative. :)

I thought about buying a jump rope and doing that in my basement...maybe put a t.v. down there...good idea!

Yep,I picked up BIlly Blanks new Cd's Cardio and Fat Blast they kick ass big time.
 
Load up some really fast music on your IPod or whatever you have and dance it off. I was a choreographer/dancer in college and can manage to get my heart rate going just dancing really hard.
 
A thought I had about doing stuff in your basement, etc. --- since you are probably used to using cardio equipment, be very careful w/ your shins if you start doing things like runnign outside - on hard surfaces or a lot of high impact on a hard surface. If you start generating shin splints now, that's really going to put a kink in yor other cardio schedule.
 
You know I see these things at gyms -- must be for some class the maker of them promoted, got the gym to buy 30 of them & an teacher certification and then they are stuck w/ them.

Not sure if its the right thing, but wanted to just make sure you aren't settign yourself up for some shin splint issues. If I run across a concrete parking lot I'm crippled for 2 days.

Yup, I used to have one. Thought it was a great and fun way to get my cardio in, but once I bought it and got over my initial enthusiasm, it wasn't all that fun. Surprise, surprise! They are not as bouncy and smooth as they look and it's no fun to work out on it alone either. It could make for a fun class though with a good instructor.

Thanks for the heads up on running outside. That's all I used to do once upon a time and I don't need shin splints right now. It's very tempting for me when the weather gets nice out to put on my running shoes and hit the pavement. But I really can't afford any added pain at this stage...I will stick to the treadmill for now!
 
Along the shin splint line ... doing jumprope in your basement can also cause problems. The floor is likely unpadded - carpet over concrete, it can be too hard on the shins/knees too. Keep that in mind. You might be better off jumping rope outside on the grass/dirt in your yard. Jumping rope is awesome - and can be great for calf devleopment. :)

I love the idea of Tae Bo ... I think this is great.
