Thyroid failure from T3 is an urban legend

there have been no documented cases of t-3 damaging your thyroid as warlobo has pointed out in prevous threads.

I wish we really knew the truth about it. Maybe it's an urban legend. Has anyone on these boards ever experience permanent thyroid damage from T3? I talked to Dave Palumbo personally about it and I asked him what the risks of thyroid failure are while taking T3. His response was NONE what so ever! What do you guys think about this. Is it a myth or a fact?

bro, its not a myth, but its severly overeggaterated. it is very uncommon. it can shut down your thyroid but it rarely happens. only to people that are predisposed to thyroid problems. chances are if you are healthy and have no history of thyroid problems, you should be fine. unless you take too much for too long.

The basic negative and positive feedback systems in your body cause reacions to exogenous drugs- T3 included. In terms of permanent thyroid failure or damage, I have not personally read any studies which confirm or deny the possibility- nor have I looked yet. It stands to reason that taking T3 can and most probably will cause thyroid dysfunction and could possibly cause thyroid failure or damage.

Is the thyroid negative feedback mechanism different than the HPTA one? Just wondering how you can recover from mega doses of test, but not from T3.

actually, i have a 1st hand experience with it. about 2 years ago i was taking t-3. i was losing so much weight i knew something was wrong. i was getting weaker and weaker. after losing about 40lbs i went to my doctor. he did blood work and of course my t-3 levels were way out of wack. he sent me to a specialist who informed me that i had Graves Disease (hyperthyroidism). I was on trapazol for several months trying to stabalize my t3 and t4 count. i could not do any exercising because of the stress hyperthyroidism puts on the heart muscle. all in all i lost 60lbs of fat and a lot of muscle mass.

Listen to gotgear- this is the type of stuff that can happen when you start manipulating your endocrine system. It's not like there aren't other option than T3.

gotgear, what kind of quantity of t-3 were you taking and for how long? Did you just take full doses or did you taper? Just curious.. I was thinking of adding it to my next cycle. Had a lot of Bro's use it and had good things to say about it. This is the first negative thing I've saw that wasn't all theory. Some more info would be greatly appreciated .

it was 2 years ago, so i dont remember the exact amount. it was not a outragous dosage though. i would just stick with clen or dnp for weightloss

HAHA!! YOU GUYS ARE WILLING TO TAKE DNP BUT NOT T-3.. THAT IS THE MOST STUPID STATEMENT I HAVE EVER HEARD.. T-3 BOYS AND GIRLS WILL NOT PUT YOU IN A COMA.. IF U DO T-3 RIGHT BY TAPERING AND NOT GOING OVERBOARD WITH THE DOSE YOU WILL BE FINE.. THERE ARE SEVERAL MEMBERS ON RENEGADE THAT TAKE UP TO 1MCG PER LB OF BODYWEIGHT.. WITH NO THYROID SHUTDOWN..

guys , I asked a doctor that my girl works with (he juices !!!) and he said that it WILL cause perminent thyroid disfunctoin or
hypo-thyroidism , BUT , he did say that it is over rated and the only way that you would realy ass your self up is by taking it for to long at to high of a dose. The most he said he would attempt
was 125mcg/d for 10 weeks , but as with any other drug not everybody reacts the same.

but what is the worst that could happen , you blow out your thyroid and you got to take it by script , so then you could add a little extra and stay lean , hell you would be able to control your matobolism at will

had that same thought once too. Not saying that I would be cool with permanent thyroid damage because I sure there are other hormones that would be thrown out of wack being that your thyroid plays a major role as a hormone.

Just ask Warlobo. He and someone else I believe put up a bet for anyone to provide medical proof that it can cause permanent shutdown of your thyroid. You know what? As far as I know nobody ever won that bet.

i doubt t3 will cause an absolute shutdown of the thyroid. but hyper or hypo thryroidism has to be treated either by surgery or radioactive iodine. a person would then have to take pills for the rest of his life to regulate the t3 and t4 levels. it may be a small risk to someone, but it CAN happen
