HI Im mike and Im in a written communications class where i have find out other peoples opinions on an issue and i chose steroids. I have many opinions on steroids but i want to know some of yours.

1.Do you have any direct experiences with the steroids issue?

2.How do you get the news about steroids?

3. How does what you see on the news compare to your own actual experience with the issue of steroids?

4. What kind of misconceptionsdo you think journalists or anyone else have on the steroids issue?

5. Are there any news accounts that have struck you as particularly accurate or inaccurate?

6. How do you think the issue could be better covered?

It looks like the people that have posted so far haven't gotten through high school. He is doing research. He is sampling a user base for their opinions. But it seems that there are a few that haven't either read the post or are just to stupid to understand it. This is an example of how someone with a brain cell that functions would answer:

1: Decline to answer for legal reasons. I take the fifth.

2:From the net and other sources.

3:Again I take the fith but theoretically I suspect that they do increase the bodies ability to heal and grow much greater.

4:The basicly are afraid of anybody that is bigger then themselves and are afraid of anything that might make people bigger then themselves.

5:All of them, with the exception of the HBO special, have been wrong.

6:By looking at the medical benifits of manipulating the endocrine system to heal and manage disease.

I hope this helps with your research. And I hope that it shows that there are some users that aren't just plain stupid.

DAMN DUDE!! fine ill help.... seriously.(but im tellin my dad you were mean to me when i get home)

1.Do you have any direct experiences with the steroids issue?

almost no one on this board does. this is an intellectual discussion and debate forum. we just happen to discuss steroids.
sorry thats the only answer your going to get.

2.How do you get the news about steroids?

all media but mostly the internet and this site.

3. How does what you see on the news compare to your own actual experience with the issue of steroids?

once again no actual experiance but...
steroids have been vilified by the press and government. the illegalization of steroids was a political move surpassed in idiocy only by prohibition.

4. What kind of misconceptionsdo you think journalists or anyone else have on the steroids issue?

there are hundreds
worst is of course that all people who use steroids become prone to irrational acts of violence or "roid rage".

5. Are there any news accounts that have struck you as particularly accurate or inaccurate?

inaccurate almost every time
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-531086172407833722&q=steroid
an example of the misinformed leading the misinformed
thanks cityhick

6. How do you think the issue could be better covered?

due to the nature of the press and human nature itself it cannot/willnot be covered better. the sensational will always be heard over the truth. result: people with legitimate need for the autoimmune benifits of some steroids (aids patients/rehmatic disease patients etc) will be denied this avenue of treatment.

I have a suggestion for your project. Go to your local Gold's. Find the biggest dudes in there and interview them. They should be very helpful. Good Luck.

i would like to take this opportunity to thank mike.
most entertaining post all week

I have helped two PhD's from Rutger's collect data from gearheads on two seperate ocassions. I can tell you from working with them this is not the way to collect data. You have no third party credibility to get your answers and your answers are asked openly rather than creating a private form to fill out. So.... good luck with that

1.Do you have any direct experiences with the steroids issue?

YES

2.How do you get the news about steroids?

Online.

3. How does what you see on the news compare to your own actual experience with the issue of steroids?

Mainstream Media is PURE BS.

4. What kind of misconceptionsdo you think journalists or anyone else have on the steroids issue?

Journalists are people who got shitty grades in college and had to chose a major that doesn't require professional certification. Hell, fitness trainers in this country need to get certified, any asshole can be a journalist, lie through their teeth, and never get their press credentials taken away.

5. Are there any news accounts that have struck you as particularly accurate or inaccurate?

No

6. How do you think the issue could be better covered?

If journalists would simply be OBJECTIVE. That is a scant possibility because nearly every journalist has a political agenda. Dan Rather is the perfect example of Jounralism gone bad yet the media praises him. Fucking Cowards.

Answers above.

so true, I have had too much test and my brains cells are dead so I'm not going to answer.
