I've been following this thread for a while.

It may be impossible to prove that OBL actually did this. However he has come out and praised the attack as well as called for further ones, just as he did after the Khobar Towers, the Cole, and WTC 1993.

If America hunts him down, the nation is certainly acting in its best interests. American leaders shouls stop trying ot be the world's morality police and start acting in the interests that their citizenry wants. Hence the title "public servant".

The citizenry wants cheap oil. We don't want $5.00 per gallon like in Europe. We have big cars and a really big country with a lot of roads. So what if this is an oil war? That's what we want, right? Cheap oil.

OBL's talk about $144 per barrle could never happen. Oil is too important to our economy. it isn;t just cars - it;s ships, planes, etc. Plane tickets would go way up, and look at the beating ouying.economy took when no one was flying. Imagine the compund if shipping slowed.

Translation: If oil gets out of hand, we will take our tanks over to Saudi Arabia and knock on the palace door to get it.


I do agree that we should make better use of other resources.

This is part of what makes America great. I also said that America is not without fault. America was built on this very philosophy....that man is selfish. This idea is the basis for capitalism...if man works to his own advantage, then this is best for the economy..and since man is selfish anyway, capitalism will work for the best for everyone as a whole.

the US as of 2000 imported about 1.7MMBD from canada.
it imported about 1.6MMBD from saudi arabia. with venezuela and mexico 3rd and 4th respectively.

your asumption that saudi will run out of oil in 10 years or so is wrong. they have 25% of the worlds proven reserves(which is #1) vs. canada maybe has 1% if that.

canadas' proven reserves have gone down over the past 20 years, whereas saudi arabias has increased by more than 50%. now who is gonna run out in 10 years?

from an oil standpoint i would much rather be friends with the saudi's. americas policy is to use other nations oil until it runs out and then use ours and our close allies. so our involvement in the middle east is about oil.

Nope go back and see the #, just Canada(Alberta) has more oil than any other place in this world ( of course its in sand ) but still.

The #1 reserve in the Middle East is Iraq, I had a course on that last year, if I can find my book

No america's economy is built on capitalism because those that work the hardest can move up and succeed meanwhile those that dont will stay at the bottom. correct, canada has the largest known deposit of bituminous sand(tar sands). an OIL PRODUCING SUBSTANCE soaked into sand. THIS IS NOT CRUDE OIL. it must be processed using steam or an organic to produce a slurry. this slurry is then treated again to produce a SYNTHETIC oil. it is a more expensive process than using pure crude oil. only about 200000 barrels a day are produced. one U.S. refinery can distill that a day. not much by any comparison.


now, about CRUDE OIL RESERVES. iraq is #2 and saudi is #1.
