the rate of return on female pop stars is VERY good. aly & aj, gaga, selna gomez, natasha hudgens, pussycat dolls, girlicious, kristina debarge, etc. etc.
You save on marketing costs cuz all the magazines and pop outlets want to put their atractive faces on the covers. MTV wants to run their videos cuz hot chicks dancing sells. And girls 15-25, who are not veyr privy to torrents, p2p sharing and other venus - spend the most amoutn of cash on tickets, cds and posters.
Profit, profit, profit. A disturbed or linkin park on the other hand, costs a shitload of money trying to promote, get on tv, get 'big', got 4-5 members to pay off/deal with and the return is lousy.
Got a hot chick who sings? Take her to hollywood and let agents fight over her.
