To be honest, I like to think that a lot of the people that were killed in the WTC bombing went to be with the Lord. I know not all of them did, but it's a comforting thought anyway.

That's how I looked at it too. I thought the "NUKE JESUS" remark was highly rude and just plain wrong. I tried to look at the comforting aspect of the picture.

Well, I am a religious person so I am obviously biased as to what is wrong with an anti-religious age. So I think we should simply agree to disagree on this one.

I say Jesus because that is who I personally believe in. I am not saying anything against any other nationality or religion. Please, don't make it sound like I am. I have friends of many different religions. I do not assume that they will go to Hell. That would be pretty narrow-minded. I won't make judgement calls on anyone. It's not my place.

There is only one God. And to answer an earlier question, if they aren't with Jesus, they are in Hell.

but there is NO god. So no point in argueing about it. If one feels comfortable believing there is one, that's fine. Bottomline is ...there is no god.

With all due respect, unless you know what God knows you do NOT know where even one person went!!!

And I don't think you're God so...quit saying you know where anyone goes after they die. You might have very strong beliefs about that and that's ok...but don't say you know. You don't

p.p.s. re the pic...well I don't really like stereotyp-ish depictions of Jesus but...if the person who did it did it out of Love then more power to him/her...it's quite...thought-provoking, probably to people of all sorts of world-views & belief systems...

i've seen that pic before...apparently a student (what grade i don't know.) drew that. they were asked to draw what they were feeling and that's what one of the kids drew.

ok folks, let's not get into a jesus bashing match here. the man never did anything to you to deserve it. he did something for you to help you if you believe that but if not i won't bash you or judge you as i am taught judge not lest you be judged. there are many religions all over the world and i don't see them getting bashed. why, it's the new world order of things. christianity is now being targeted as an anti everybody/everything religion cause of it's teachings against the newly liberated way of thinking. the problem is not the religion itself but those who protray it and do it with their own intentions or misunderstandings. hmmm, kinda like what the muslim world is trying to tell us about the extemists that are waging war against the west.

This explains the simplicity of it, I believe. I would like to think it was a younger child that drew it...just simply because of the way it leans toward Jesus as being the only almighty savior.

I am a Christian, so this makes sense to me, but in NO WAY do I condemn any other religious beliefs. Each person needs to worship in a way that they get something out of it...whether it be christianity, buddism, hinduism...etc.

It is a nice pic...

OK Helen, I wasn't presuming that I was God. Please don't insinuate that I was. You're right. I don't know where any of those people went. I like to think that the biggest majority of them went to Heaven. And also, I never meant for this to be a religious debate. I don't condemn any other religions that differ from mine. I'm not that narrow-minded. Some of my best friends are Hindu. I do not base my friendships on religion. Yes, it plays a large part in my life. BUT I am not going to judge people on anything. It's not my place to make a judgement call. But no, I never implied that I thought I was on the same level as God. No one is. And I personally am quite far from it. And also, I don't have to defend myself to you or anyone else.

ok fair enough. No, you don't have to defend yourself :) - you are quite right!

As for how could someone not go to heaven who did something really bad, well, the theology goes like this - you have to be perfect to go to heaven and be with God because God is perfect, only perfect people can go there...no one is perfect. So no-one can go even the best person if we compare ourselves against each other. But Jesus died to 'cover' us, to make a way, he 'wiped the slate clean' for us as it were so that all who such-and-such can now to go heaven because of what God did for us, to reconcile us to Him, even though he's perfect and we aren't.

Christians aren't totally agreed on what [] is...the Christians I hang out with generally agree it's by believing in Jesus and asking God to 'apply' his death to them as it were. It's no harder than signing a book but it's really important you sign...and in taking that step you are also giving control of your life to God, it's a BIG deal. It's not just "oh I prayed, I'm done, life as usual" - you are under new management and your life won't ever be the same if you've really understood the implications of giving the LORD charge of your life...it's obviously different whether you are in charge of your own life or someone else is.

So...that probably didn't explain anything did it? :)

I tend to think that if God is as smart as they say He is, He figured out a way to get everyone to heaven who - would want to go. No less people than that. That's not exactly what the people I hang out with believe but...so far they are tolerating me I guess. I avoid public dissension...that may help... ;)

We look around and see hatred and death and starvation and when we are shown love to something, it is always taken away and embedded into our memorise of what we once had. But we are all told to deal with it the best you can. And in the end you may go to a better place. Or you may have to keep living here over and over. And next time you may be the one who doesn't live in a civilized country. But in the ocean or the ground or in the trees waiting to get prayed apon.

I didn't mean to sound totally witchy there. No hard feelings? It just bothered me when you implied that I compared myself to God in a fashion. We'll just call a truce, deal? And I totally agree with pretty much everything you are saying. I like to think that God takes care of people. I mean, what about the babies that are stillborn or die while a baby or a toddler? They wouldn't know about the existence of any greater being. What happens to them? So yeah, I like to think that God will make exceptions in cases like that. As far as those in the attacks...I suppose we will never know.

I guess I am perhaps somewhat overly sensitive to people in general asserting stuff they don't know because I hang out with non-Christians and it drives them up the wall that Christians tend to do that all the time...so I kinda took on their sensitivities perhaps, out of frustration that Christians are so bad at communicating with them...:rolleyes: (in general, I mean...)

It's kind of funny to see all the energy the Theophobes expend in bashing God. They all must really feel strongly about the Almighty and the things He has said for them to devote so much time and energy to denying Him.
To all who don't believe: no comment is necessary. We believe and you don't. You won't convince us just as we won't convince you. Words don't do it.

(And for you (you know who you are!) just come out of the closet and admit that, even though you don't understand Him or agree with Him, or even like Him sometimes, you do believe in Him. He's willing to talk to you about it.)

i hate when i see people say stuff like this. when i look around i dont see hatred, death and starvation and i doubt wombat does either. i look around and see people living their lives and most of them seem happy. i am happy. this world is a great one and it is full of good times and chicks with big titties. there is no better place than this one.
