Ok, I like to workout alot... and sometimes with my friends, Im bigger than them, at 205lbs ( they are @ like 165 or so ) I can bench, press, and just generally lift alot more in all aspects than they can.... yet when we mess around ( push each other... etc ) I seem to get overpowered... its hard to explain, but its like im not stronger than them.... I bet Im sounding stupid, but maybe you guys have experienced it before... "Wow.... How did he do that?"

Im a weight lifter not a fighter.... ya tell them that ....you have strong muscles not a strong mind.. its mind over matter bro..you dont mind if it dont matter...

its your subconcious protecting them. in the back of your mind you know you'd roll over them. maybe you're afraid to rough them up because of a subconcious fear of injuring your friends.

I believe that some people just put more into it when messing around. If it came down to it, you would have much more to offer strengthwise while they are probably at their max already

understanding

Ragin' is right on the money. if you think about it, you have to key-up, as in martial arts in order to push the weights that you do. The average american male cannot lift his own body weight in any way shape or form- we throw that plus some around for an hour 4 to 5x week. when I horse-around, cause people are always wanting to test you, I start laughing for no apparent reason and cant stop. if you were to key-up and focus, your opponent would be short lived. :bawling:

Strength and Power are different...but related.

I know a lot of small guys that are powerful...I also know alot of big guys that can't lift heavy(good bench press etc) but are very powerful.

It also has to do with knowing what you are doing. I can take some of my bigger friends and toss them around just because I used to wrestle and I know how to use leverage.

And playing around and really fighting with someone you want to hurt are apples and oranges.
