This lady at work called the cops because her son skipped school

She was talking about it in the elevator this morning to one of her frumpy friends. She was saying that she told him to go to school and found out he went to a friends house instead.

Called the cops and said “my son’s supposed to be in school but isn’t, can’t you pick him up for truancy or something?” Apparently they did.

Then she said she did it because she remembers what it was like to be that age. WTF? I will not be this parent. I don’t even know if the cops would pick someone up for skipping school – is that possible?

I get the impression her kid doesn't respect her. Nothing she said, but the way she was talking gave me the idea that she thought the kids novelty had worn off.

Maybe her son is a snot nosed, think he is invicible, doesn't need an education, making min. wage is alot of money kid. Don't know what are in the heads of these kids nowadays. Never had the problem of going to school.

Always remembered what my dad told me growing up... Finish school and go to college. Sacrifice 4 yrs of college and your life and live the rest doing well.

Well he obviously wasn't listening to her and clearly doesn't fear Dad. There is no way in Hell I was skipping school because I knew the price to be paid when dad found out. She should be home raising him right but since she isn't I say calling the cops was the right thing.

I used to play hockey all the time when I was a kid. Not the kind on ice just street stuff where you run around and use those plastic balls.

Also I think the mom may have had many discussions with her kid about the truancy thing to no avail. Maybe she thought that would scare him as a last resort. I personally would`nt do it that way but I can see her POV.

Cops just follow orders, a lot just raise revenue by playing hawk on speed traps and such.

I remember when I was 15, I stormed out of the house after an argument with my mother... to buy shoes!!!!

I came home only to find the cops at the door. She called them because she claims she "thought I had run away". That was the only time I had ever had a problem with a cop. Go figure. Parents can just be ridiculous sometimes.

This is a perfect example of lazy parents, they prefer city, state, or government to take care of their children by establishing new laws. PA is a perfect example where all other states will follow.
