More knowledgeable guys may be able to add to this.
On test a lot of guys advocate the use of adovart or propecia.
I use propecia, I even increased the dose to 5mg per day, but still I lost some hair. I now think that this is because of the following.
One mg of finasteride will lower the serum level of DHT by 60-80%. However, the amount of reduction of DHT around the hair follicles is far less than 60%-80% because the predominant enzyme that converts testosterone to DHT in the scalp is type 1 5-alpha reductase. Type 1 5-alpha reductase is not affected by finasteride.
Therefore propecia etc is not the ideal thing to use for this purpose, but Adovart is better because it reduces type 1 & 2.
So anyone thinking of test and people saying use propecia, only use it with a topical DHT blocker as well, such as spiro etc. The more experienced guys could add to this probably a lot better as well.
Cheers
