This is weird, but GREAT!!!

In the past couple of weeks something weird has happened with my strength and size and its driving me nuts for other reasons.

For the past 4 months I have been working out everyday except Saturday. And I have been working out with 2 of my buds. I had been happy with the resluts I had been getting. I was getting stronger and stronger every week and so were my buds. Then spring break came along and everything changed. We all went down to Destin and Panama City for 4 days for spring break and did the whole deal. They drank like there was tomorrow while I chose just to chase tail and not drink. We didnt work out for those four days. We then came back and continued working out like normal, but I wasnt normal anymore.

Since spring break I am skyrocketing in everything I do! I am getting great gains while my buds are slowing down, yet they are working just as hard as I am. I am also getting bigger while my BF is dropping. I am at 9 now and I weigh like 205. The people that work in the GYM who are members of the dark side have come up and asked me what I am on and I can honestly say that I am on nothing at all. Protien is it! Now my buds are convinced too and they keep wanting me to get them some too. Its driving me crazy! They also think bc I know a hell of a lot about AS from this board that I am using gear.

Does anyone have any explanations for this sudden burst? I mean my gains were great before but they are unreal now! Whats up, did my body just flip an internal switch? Someone tell me whats up, please!
 
I have a suspicion: you were overtraining before at 6 days/week and the break you took gave your body the rest it needed to come back and make more gains. Your bud on the other hand undid most of the good they did by getting trashed (read the anathema thread) and came back unrested and unprepared for more of the same grueling regimen. Clue your buds in about the alcohol, bro, the shit should be illegal!

Exactly what joncrane said.

I have started a new regimen with a friend who is twice as strong as I am and we push it to the max. Like "can't bench anymore? ok add 40 pounds and do negatives!"

I was so afraid of overtraining from all the posts on this board that I actually think I was undertraining.

I believe now the best is to periodize training heavy with training lighter with higher volume. off cource, this is nothing new.

So in short, the week off let you're body recoup for more.
 
I really appreicate the replies so far!

Do you think 4-5 days is too much or should I just stick with 4? And I have to figure out a way to get everyone to quit thinking I am juicing! That part is what is driving me crazy! I didnt realize that 4 days of drinking could set you back that much! That is crazy!!!

Its not just the frequency though that overtrains you. I was at a university gym last weekend and these two 135lb twigs were using the 30lb dumbells on shoulder presses and doing forced reps on every single set (about 7 sets total). Even juiced I could not handle that much application of beyond failure stuff. While it is nice to train with a group and have spots every set, it is not necessary to utilize every damn weider principle every damn set.


BTW one of them mentioned to me that he had been training 6 days a week for 7 years. I said he was probably overtraining. he then retorted "no, overtraining is not possible, I'm on andro!"
 
Yeah, sounds like your body needed the rest. 6 days a week is alot, unless you are only doing one bodypart a day. Rest is very important, and more training is not always better.
 
I recently got a new partner and we went to 4 days a week (from 5) and it's much better. Workouts are better because I'm rested and strength is up.
 
I have been doing the old 3 on 1 off, for a few years with periodic rest intervals of a week or so. Works great for me.
