what's the story behind the price reduction as of late?

i saw a preview on the news.. but missed the story and the reason why they're dropping prices...

I don't watch much tv but I think they will both becoming out with something new soon........something like playstation extreme.

Eh. I gotta XBOX. Got it early. So far, the games haven't
impressed me as much as I hoped they would. But it's a DVD
player too so that has made somewhat less painful.

But yeah, I'd wait even longer to buy one. There isn't a
must-have game yet for the system. Although if you love
shit like MADDEN or HALO then get the xbox today.
