Awesome pictures Scots. Thanks for sharing. Where are those drills located?

I just have to add.... sweaty, hard working men :p :p :p :p mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Cool pics!

Damn, I would have loved to have gone wildcatting all through Texas at the turn of the century!

I got a buddy in Pampa, TX in the oil biz. And my sister works for the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Black gold, Texas tea.......

The first one was in western Colorado. The second was at 10,000ft in the northern rockies of Colorado. Not sure where the third one is I think it was in New Mexico, I wasn't on that one, it is a photo we use as part of our advertising.

Zebo- Yeah wildcatting is a bit of fun, can also be frustrating as hell when you don't find anything though.

Sauer 35...

Spent 3 weeks on that one and I think it was the pad after the one pictured. Moved from Paradox to south of Naturita.

That is one hell of a BBQ pit on the last one! I am jealous. I will have to see if I can collect some of the blowout and fire pics of the rigs around here. I know one guy has a video during a blowout they had to eventually abandon.

Thanks Scots.

Yeah I spent a little over two weeks on it. Not as big of a death trap as Sauers were before Unit bought them. That last one is a flare off that they did, the photo is from a chopper. Luckily I haven't been on BBQ duty yet had some blowouts but none that ignited.

Yeah that one was actually on purpose. The ones that are bad usually take some lives and possibly the rig too.

That is a nice flare. We wern't allowed to flare anything when the big one hit our rig a few summers ago. But I caught it on time to get it contained. Nothing like a 2 inch gain in the pits over about 20 seconds to give you a hint eh? Sounded like a jet engine when we bled that off and killed it.

I bet you could cook a turkey in two minutes with that kind of heat.

Just an average flare you can feel the heat across location. That would be uncomfortably hot even across location. Damn good BBQ though :)

Yeah last summer we had one go gained 10" in the pits in about 5min, there was so much gas that the air was being distorted around the rig. Fucking rams didn't fire on the bop so we all almost died. I promptly got my fat ass off the rig and back to town.

Amazing how one can turn into a rabbit so quickly eh? That is a serious kick. I was trying to explain it to a friend earlier and the consequences if it all goes to hell too fast. She shut me down and didn't want to hear about it, I think at the I wouldn't burn up, all the oxygen would be sucked out of my lungs and I would suffocate in a few seconds.
And Damn 10" space in the tanks on a known trouble well is just plain wormy. Not to mention underbalance heading in.

Problem is we weren't expecting a kick. Did a well 10mi or so away and no kick at all, then this bitch gave us a run for the money. Client requires bop on all wells as well as the fire retardant covies(which I hate with a passion). Also to make matters worse we were in a corn field so the gas was trapped on the location with no wind to clear it. Had it flared I might have gotten an upclose view of the international space station.LOL

Yeah we were coring, and I am one of those damn rock hounds.LOL

My problem is they don't make full covies that fit right. Once I get them over my shoulders I have to be careful how I move or I nearly neuter myself each time. I have the biggest set that bulwark sells now and if I have a sweatshirt on I have to do my Ace Ventura coming out of the rhino imitation to get out of them.

Rock cock eh? I guess if I am a directional dick you get to be a rock cock, assuming no physical reference heh.

The xxl doesn't fit me at 215 and 6ft I cannot imagine how they fit you. I refused to wear them and told the company to fuck off. <Encana, canadiens, i am sure they don't understand> Like fire retardent suits help keep oxygen in your lungs lol. Coring and not expecting a kick? Good show. Did you get the crew drunk after at least?

Yeah mine are 58's in the chest and way too constrictive. I laugh about how they wouldn't stop a 200' flare for even a millisecond, and your head is exposed anyway. Yeah they had the bop just hadn't serviced it in a while so only one half of the rams fired. It was a shale job so we didn't expect the kick and thought we were ready for it. Besides I don't run the coring shit it was a bunch of canadiens doing the coring, and the rig crew was a bunch of back woods Indiana boys.

Rock cock.LMAO, I have been called that more than once. I try to avoid telling drillers that I am a Geo as much as possible so they still might respect me a little.

Joke for you: A driller and a geologist jump off the empire state building the driller goes "SPLAT" on the the concrete; the geologist gets lost on the way down.

If you can't guess a driller told me that one.
