Third Infantry Division Is Home (mostly)

Hi!

The 3rd Infantry Division - 3ID - has largely returned from Iraq this past week. I just spoke to 2 officers I am friendly with. They are back at Ft Benning GA, which, as you might imagine, is very hot in the summer. 100 degrees is common. Yet they complain they are "freezing". Pretty funny.

The 3ID is the division whose members openly criticized the President and Secretary of Defense.

I am just glad my friends aer home. Much of the Division remains overseas, and I wish them well.

Good to have our troops back home.

Its about time. Tell those boys we were all rooting for them. Well, most of us educated anyway.

props to the 3rd mechanized(I have a hard time calling a unit equiped with Abrams and Bradley's "infantry")for their bold move into Baghdad(they beat the marines)and thus forcing the coup-de-etat..but I'm really dismayed about the bellyaching I'm hearing from the press about the war weary 3rd infantry that needs a rotation out of Iraq..and shame on the soldiers who feel discomfortable about their assignment..the war for iraq was little more than a skirmish compared to history..an overwhelming majority of soldiers and combatants from all phases and countries would have loved to have to endure what the 3rd has to now compared to what they dealt with..our casualty rate in this so-called guerilla war of a soldier every 3rd day or so is miniscule..for example,German divisions on the eastern front with a TO&E of 20,000 would still be an effective fighting force reduced to some 1200..our soldiers in vietnam must really be pissed about the complaints..this is and continues to be a cakewalk

what did they say in criticism & who relieved them?

110 in the shade in military grubs? Ever tried it while wearing combat gear?

I'm sure Dcup will have an answer for the temp sensation problem.

Welcome home ..

The Mechs have full air conditioning systems in them! The systems placement of the pipelines allows the members of the crew to be supplied with cool air to decrease the overall dimensions and power intensiveness of the air-conditioning system! It common to have the "freezing" effect with such high outside temps with the systems! This would all depend on the time that was spent inside of it!

However it could be the "Self Cooling Systems" which are in "Pergatory" but they may have tested them for the 3rd since they were Part of the Spear! The Nano tech in the SCS are out of this world but again I'm not sure if the 3rd got to use them or not!

Or the were just freezing from the cold looks they are recieving from Iraqies!

In any event it good for them they get to go home but for the "Clean Up" operation it is not! Still a mess! But Rome was not built in a day! Time will tell as always!

Welcome home.

Of course they got there before the Marines. The Marines were busy securing and fight in the other 95% of Iraq all the way up to Baghdad. They just rolled across the open desert.

Good job and yes I wish they would quit bellyaching. I heard of some on the news complaining about wanting to go home cause they were homesick. They need to keep that to themselves as it just demorilizes those out there and those awaiting their turn.
