Thinking about joining Air Force..Advice needed.

The benefits sound good and I think it would be a good experience for me.

Any advice?

Job would be in intelligence/Police area.

What do I do to make sure I get everything I can get without being screwed over?

Military people tell me how you like/liked it.

Thanks.

I had loads of Fun (and a lot of strained balls) as a LoadMaster.
If you are looking for long term or you don't like being told what to do, take the ASVAB and go to Colorado Springs and rape someone.. j/k..

Best thing about going USAF is the 12 hour layovers all over the world.
You can take a quick tour around some pretty cool places.

When we hit a good stop and they said 12 hours, we(flight team) would sometimes suddenly have a NO GO item in the Maintenance log show up that needed 2 days to fix or we could not take off... lol

you should be proud. way to serve our country and spend our tax dollars. lazy ass. thats why you're fat.

Make sure you choose a job/trade that you can use if you decide not to stay in. The computer field is the way to go. If youre thinkin long term go officer. Other than that go in do your time learn a trade and start college. they will bend over backwards in most cases to work with you on giving you time to take classes. plus tuition assistance is 100% now. cant beat that. I say check the navy recruiter out before you decide airforce though. The IT rate in the navy is great for learning computers and they have a new program called IT University where you go to school for 2 years, get your cisco cert and microsoft(mcsa), plus you get an associates. you have to qualify for it though.... good luck.

I ALMOST JOINED THE USAF. I WANTED TO JOIN FOR THE SCHOOLING AND BENEFITS. NOW I'M THINKING I WOULD LIKE TO BE MORE INVOLVED WITH SHIT. LIKE AN ARMY SNIPER OR SOMETHING.

AIR FORCE IS GOOD. BEST PAY/BENEFITS.

If you want to go into the intelligence district then I suggest going into the army. I spent 14 years in army counterintelligence, great experience and if you stick with it good pay and of course great benefits.
Talk to your local recruiter about taking the ASVAB (dont worry, if you have a high school education you wont need to study). If you take the test then dont find a job you like, you can always take it again or forget it.

Feel free to message me if you want any more info.

Go to Army recruiter. Immediately tell him you want to sign up for 3 yr. contract 11 Bravo MOS + Airborne school + RIP guarantee. Then you'll be set. Let me know how it goes.

What if he doesnt even want to be a ranger?

I've been in the AF for 3 years now and am getting out in a year. I highly discourage getting into the Aircraft Maintenance field (i'm avionics on bombers). The morale sucks pretty much everywhere i've been no matter what airframe. Production treats us like crap and we get no recognition for what we do. This is really the only advice I can give you for I have no knowledge of what other jobs are good in the air force because I have yet to meet someone that actually enjoy what they do. I'm sure there is a good job out there for you however.

Peace...

He'll see what he is made of if he even gets that far. Lately only 1-5% make it through RIP because the fuken recruiters sign too many fuken Ranger and SF contracts.

Have you ever heard of "Hell's Kitchen" (Battalion) which is at Ft. Benning ? Or "Candy Land" ?

True!

We used to talk to these poor guys like .."Fix our shit ASAP"
We did not really care how late they worked because we had a schedule to meet..
Funny thing looking back at it now is that these dudes (and ladies) had our lives in their hands 100%..

Thank you Maintenence dogs.. or Mr GoodWrench
seriously!

Yes, I went to basic at Ft. Benning.

I know that you don't have to be 11X. I was mostly being sarcastic just too see the reaction.

The Republican, what is/was your MOS and which bat. was your ITB ?

I was in 2/58 D Co.

I started out as an 11B. Was in Desert Storm. Got accepted to Green Beret training but sustained an injury during a HAHO jump about 5 months in.
After that I spoke with my superiors and got into 97B...it was mainly due to my ability to speak arabic as a second language.
