Tough, yes. Stupid, yes.
While very realistic, I am 99% sure it's faked:
The flame that shot out of his hand had the wrong intensity to it.
If you look at the powder burn on his hand, the charring isn't symmetrical as it would be with a real shot. There would also be tatooing on his palm from unburned powder.
Notice that his ring and middle finger have no deformity to them? The bullet path is right inline with his metacarpal bone-break the bone and the finger flops.
Lack of bleeding...need I say more?
The gun report is a bit more realistic, not totally, but closer.
No flinch when the gun "goes off.
And I don't care how bad you are and how stoned or psycho you are, you don't shoot your own hand and then have a 100% stoic look on your face.
