there was a senate hearing today on steroids

The biggest problem I see in sports is that the use of enhancement meds by the pros encourages teenagers (or kids whose growth and development aren't complete to be more exact) to use/abuse. I do not think the sports public minds the supervised use by the pros, but they do mind kids abusing the meds. If we eliminate the use of enhancement meds by the pros, then kids will follow suit. I am surprised the govt isn't putting the IFBB or the NPC on the spot. To summarize, my concern is the abuse of enhancement meds by kids.

drmjw while i agree with your concern for children, i think that this legislation has nothing to do with public good, but is rather a diversion for certain politicians.

i think that the way to deal with the issue of steroids is to make them legal for adult use and administered under supervision in clinics only. no drugs in the hands of the user.

sure there may be some diversion by those who own the clinics, but as with anything else, that can be legislated for.

id love to open a pharmacy where i jabbed people in the butt for a $10 fee all day long. ill jsut buy some sunglasses :D and maybe get a beauty therapist in for some hardcore butt waxing :D

Injectables have been self-administered for ages. I doubt legislation will ever pass that requires me to go to a clinic for my daily or weekly injections. We just need to keep gear out of the hands of babes. It has everything to do with kiddie public safety and politics as usual.

i know, but clinic injections will keep meds out of the hands of the public, while maintaining their availability (unless you live on a farm or something)

diversion to minors by adults would be the probable major source of meds used by juveniles, imo

I believe this same argument has been unsucessfully given about chewing snuff, drug use, etc. Kids are going to do these things and more, and correlation with athletes is spurious at best.

Using "kids" as a shield to restrict rights is a usefull but erroneous. Kids will still smoke cigarettes, smoke pot, use drugs, huff butane, and whatever next comes up the pike to utilize. These are the kinds of issues the hose bags in our government and press need to concentrate on.

Supplements bypass the big-pharma patent process whereby they can completely strip the flesh from the finacial bones of the people they're claiming to help. Now, take away all of these non-patented "supplements" so the business of drug makers and weight loss clinics etc can regain profitability at the detriment of your rights. Has not a thing in the world to do with protecting you or our kids.

For sake of discussion let's seperate PH from AAS. For PH, establish age cutoff, like alchohol and tobacco. For AAS, turn back the clock and allow administration by MD's. Keep the government out of this!
As to kids' modeling pro athletes behavior, so what is new? Parents need to monitor the kids. Society has changed and elevated sports to an undeserved position. Why should a sport issue bleed over and affect the general population and result in a president including this in his address to the nation? Pro athletes are just that, professionals paid to be the best. I would expect them to do what is takes to be the best and pushing the envelope. Unfortunately, we have this mindset for everyone who participates in sports at any level. You have to be the best and win, win , win. Until this attitude and message changes, kids will do what is takes to achieve that expectation.
Unfortunately, hysteria and emotions are now driving decisions. The current scenario reminds me of the expression "Don't confuse me with the facts".

It amazes me that they are so concerned about protecting children and yet you hear nothing about all the kids that smoke cigarettes. Not to mention the national obesity epidemic that we are having. I heard about some 18 fat kid the other day having a heart attack. Now that is a real problem, not prohormones and aas's. Yes you could put a legal age on prohormone use but did the legal age stop any of us from drinking and smoking. NO!! This whole thing is about greed so the big pharm companies can have more power.

Fuck Bush!!! Hes Such A Piece Of Shit, Everyone Vote For The Democratic Candidate And Get Bush Out Of Office!!!

Yeah, but dude, do you think Kerry's going to be pro steroid or something? Hell, the Democrats are some of the worst when it comes to drug laws because it's an easy way to look tough on crime. There's always a big upside for them, and it's not like there's a huge pro steroid lobby.

Hell, the only way Kerry would be pro steroid is a gay lobbying group asked him to be.
