So The Nature Boy rolls into my town for a job a few weeks ago, and spats and I have the pleasure of meeting him for dinner. Find out a few days later that he and I have something in common: Madden 2002. Since he's gonna be in town a while longer, some smack talk is exchanged, and the game is set:
I'll play the Chiefs, he'll play the Titans.
Spats has us over for dinner, and makes a wonderful lasagna (thanks again spats!
), and after a while, NB decides we should play some Madden. We head back to my place, and get the game underway. Despite my temperamental PS2, we completed a full game.
His comment at the beginning was, "are you sure you want to play such a crap team?"
And it didn't start out well for me; he scored on his first possession, and I fumbled on mine. From there, it got much, much better.
Final score? Chiefs 30, Titans 14.
The game was closer than the score indicated. I managed to lock up the win with a touchdown drive in about 1:30 in the 4th, and the final score came on a desperation blitz move on his part.
The other big highlight of the game was Steve McNair getting dragged down in the end zone for a safety.
Yep, I'm okay with my crap team.
He's looking forward to Starcraft for some redemption...
