The way you sleep at night

Does the position you sleep in have any effect on the shape of your body?

Might be a real stupid question but I was wondering about this for a while.

I don't think it has any effect on the shape of my body, but if I sleep in the wrong position, I do have some bad back pain the next day, and that makes my posture bad and takes a toll on my back workout (if I have one that day).

I'm glad you asked that question and not me. I've wondered it before though. I've wondered if you sleep in such a way that it restricts blood flow to one of your arms, will it inhibit growth and recovery? I kind of don't think so though, but ya never know.

Onerep...I don't think it will, your blood vessels expand and contract as needed, so if they have good blood access while you sleep, they contract, if not they will open up. Plus most people toss and turn a LOT while they sleep.

well, if you just passout or are knocked out from a mad day at the gym, i don't think there will be much tossing/turning.

i too have a bad shoulder, i can no longer sleep on my right side or the pain will start again.

i favour sleeping on my right side however, i wonder if the fact that i've done this a lot (almost all the time) in the past has attributed to my having shoulder probs..

Probably.

I used to have problems with my right shoulder.

My chiro told me to stop sleeping on it. I did, and the pain went away.

If I did sleep on it, the pain would come back. Sucks because I can fall asleep the quickest in that position.

Wow. It's good to hear I'm not the only one who gets sore rotators that way. I thought I was imagining it for a while.

Yeah, you're probably right. I think about stupid stuff like that though. I do wake up a lot of time and it take a few minutes before I can feel one or both of my hands.

i just recently wondered if the sleep effects your gains. When you look at the total picture i mean nothing will really make you lose measurements if done for 1 day even 2. I mean i've had some good gains staying dry and not taking protein and good foods, its just a habit that is bad. so if you sleep in a wrong position that eventually will effect your gains i dont think it would happen in a day or two.
