The Unintended Result of the 9-11 Hearings

The Patriot Act was a good move. Now Kerry must explain why he voted for it, then critcized it. What will his stand be now that the commission has shown that the stovepiping of the CIA and FBI may have hurt our ability to stop 9-11?

But that is a key part of the Democrats campaign platform.

Me: Why are you voting against Bush?

Democrat: EnronHaliburtanPatriotAct

Me: Pardon? That sounds like four words strung together as one. What do each of them mean and what is their relevance to the campaign?

Democrat: EnronHaliburtanPatriotAct

Me: Ok, fine. Let me break that down.

Enron? Yes, Bush knew their leadership since they were from TX. But as President, Bush never gave them the time of day. CA Governor Grey Davis thanked Bush's appointments to the federal electricity comission for helping the state overcome problems caused by Enron. It was President Clinton and Gore who held *personal meetings* with the ENron CEO together. Imagine that - getting a meeting with the prez and VP at the same time to talk about what? Enron's desire to pass Kyoto because of how much money they would make from it.

Haliburton? No other company in the world does what they do. They got contracts through the entirety of the Clinton Administration - who gave them no-bid contracts. On one occasion, Haliburton lost a bid to another company but the Clinton admin gave the contract to them anyway because they knew Haliburton (under Cheney's leadership) would get the job done.

What was the other one?

Democrat: EnronHaliburtonPatriotAct

Me: Oh yeah. Patriot Act. You know it was originally proposed by the Clinton administration in the mid-90s? And that Kerry voted for it? And what exactly is it about the Patriot Act that you don't like? The library thing? The justice department has always had that power and it isn't mentioned in the Act. Detaining people without charges? It only allows non-citizens to be detained for 3 days and does not discuss citizens.

Democrat: EnronHalib.....

Me: Well?

Democrat: Four Legs Good, Two Legs Bad

Me: Swell.

It also showed how vindicitive the dems on the commission are.

In fact, the Dems performance during the Rice testimony should show Americans how invalid that half the commission really is.

werd I agree, but this will be a dirty campaign boys. Mark my words, they are planning to run a smutfest. Wonder if ol' Kerry is spending campaign funds improperly? Anyway, they will keep slinging mud at the economy and 911 and say Bush was awol from the Guard. It is all BS, they haven't a leg to stand on. BACK BUSH!!

The outcome will be the suggestion to create a domestic version of the CIA.

AKA: Stasi, KGB etc... Liberals/Neocons will LOVE it.

It's illegal for the government to spy on US citizens.
Thats why the CIA *isn't* domestic.

Have you been watching the commission? They're openly talking about it. A whole new beaurocracy. You might want to read the Patriot Acts very closely too. Re: spying on citizens.

I'm VERY familiar with the Patriot Act II, but thanks for the offer.

What part are you suggesting is a *new* law that allows for the wholesale intelligence gathering of US civilians?
