Well he does make modifications. He'll switch from 5x5 to 5x3.

The thing about progressive resistance based training, you have to periodize. You can't add weight to the bar forever. It's not just your muscles, it's your CNS.
 
I have actually changed my routine recently, but i do think that as long as you cam keep adding weight or resistance, then you dont need to change. But when you plateau then some sort of change is necessary to keep forcing your body into growth
