The Soldier!!!

I want you to close your eyes and picture in your mind the soldier at Valley Forge, as he holds his musket in his bloody hands. He stands barefoot in the snow, starved from lack of food, wounded from months of battle and emotionally scarred from the eternity away from his family surrounded by nothing but death and carnage of war. He stands though, with fire in his eyes and victory on his breath. He looks at us now in anger and disgust and tells us this...

I gave you a birthright of freedom born in the Constitution and now your children graduate too illiterate to read it. I fought in the snow barefoot to give you the freedom to vote and you stay at home because it rains. I left my family destitute to give you the freedom of speech and you remain silent on critical issues, because it might be bad for business. I orphaned my children to give you a government to serve you and it has stolen democracy from the people. It's the soldier not the reporter who gives you the freedom of the press. It's the soldier not the poet who gives you the freedom of speech. It's the soldier not the campus organizer who allows you to demonstrate. It's the soldier who salutes the flag, serves the flag, whose coffin is draped with the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag!!!
Please stop for a moment and say a prayer for our U.S. ground troops in Afghanistan, AND sailors all over this world. Of all the gifts you could give a US Soldier, Prayer is the very best one.....

though in this new war I pray it doesnt happen,the soldiers dont need to die

good thread, i enjoyed reading it. but that was then, this is now. very few military people are in it for that reason. most can't find jobs, or are to stupid to look, so the military is there last option. and why there family, wife or girlfriend is back home, there over seas or in a different state getting $10 dollar hookers every night, or going to strip clubs. very few go in thinking they want to serve there country, and be proud and all you can be ect ect. the military has become just another easy job. until WW3 begins and there all going to be pissing there pants like little school girls. this might offend a lot of you, but it's true.

I wouldn't say very few military people take it seriously. There are many men who take the military very seriously but I'm sure there's your fair share of guys that would rather not be in the military.

i'm just saying many go in thinking it's just a job to make some money, travel and get some puss. sure there is a lot that go in wanting to serve there country, and are very proud of that. but i bet there are a lot more who go into it not looking at it this way.
