The Science Behind GHB Dependancy...

As i'm sure most of you know GHB increases the amount of the neurotransmitter GABA in the brain , but what most of you probably don't know is that GABA inhibits the release of Corticotropin Releasing Hormone (CRH) which is the hormone that initiates the bodys stress response . Look at it this way CRH is the bodys stress button , which is being held down with continuous use when using GHB . As you encounter stress the pressure under this button begins to build up. If you suddenly stop taking GHB cold turkey you remove you're finger from this button and you're stress levels shoot through the roof due to the build up , causing all the nasty withdrawal symptoms . Which is why if you chose to use GHB you should always use it irregularly or cycle it and ween yourself off very slowly.

That is 100% correct. I've experienced it many times. After about 4-5 days, depending on the length of constant use, you will be fine. Good post

darn fine information!

Hmmmmmm.......... now does that mean that taking ghb during a cycle, we could suppress cortisol response and increase our gains?.......hmmmmmm........:)

jakethemus your panic attacks are defintitely a withdrawal symptom, as CRH is a pro-inflammatory hormone which brings on anxiety and/or asthma attacks.

Using GHB on cycle could also be a good addition , as the gear prevents cortisol from attaching to its receptor sites thus preventing the completion of the negative feedback loop and the subsequent deactivation of the CRH (to better understand how the negative feedback loop works refer to my previous post " the definitive reason why anti-depressants don't work"). Thus GHB could be use to prevent an overactive hypothalamus as it inhibits CRH.

Interestingly enough CRH is now being targeted as the main cause of anxiey and depression, the newest anti-depressants being developed are CRH antagonists(sadly these are a good few years) . GHB preforms a similar task to these CRH antagonists as it is a GABA agonist which in turn anatonises the CRH secretion.

How long do you think one should cycle the use of GHB. I have used it on and off for a little over a year. I used to just take it when I was real busy and didnt have time to sleep much. Whould you still want to cycle if you were using GHB as a sleep aid only, avg dose of 1\2 to 1 teaspoons per night.

Thanks for the input.

half a teaspoon to one teaspoon ,2.5g to 5.0g thats alot of GHB the recommended dose for sleep (from what ive gathered) is 2.0g and for during the day is 1.0g

If you're gonna suffer panic attacks coming off ghb and i never have, just pop 1 or 2 vals every now and then,NOTE:every now and then. You'll be calm and chilled.

Iron Ghost the reason valiums help with the panic attacks is that they also work by increasing GABA similarly to the GHB

I stayed on GHB for about three and a half months, 24/7, all summer. I quit after a few shots of deca resulted in some gyno, and I learned that the GHB played a significant role in that. I had no withdrawals whatsoever. Zilch. I probably took 20 grams daily during that summer. I take G now when I have it, and when I don't it doesn't bother me. I take a lot sometimes, and a little sometimes. Occasionally I will string four or five days on end with it, and then just ignore it for a week or so. Go figure.

I have a fiend just fresh outta a quick rehab (dryout period) for that stuff. I use to see him drinking it everyday, at all times. He finallty tied to quit but coudnt get to sleep if he wasn't on it. This resulted in 5 nights of no sleep and then the hullucinations started. His brother finally took him in and they had to give him some sort of medication injections so he could finally get to sleep. He is off the stuff now and feels great. A case of using to much of the stuff.
