The pros and cons of never coming "off"

c gheller said:
What are the advantages and disadvantages of never coming off. Say setting a base of 250mg/week and cycling from there? I thought id throw this one out there to see what people think.

The big advantages come for those of us who are hypogonadal and have low natural levels of test. It's called TRT, or HRT.

IMO, doc's supervision required.

Basically you are replacing your body's test with a synthetic test that you will have to use for the rest of your life, basically youwould only be making gains that you did when you were 16. I'd rather do cycles

I know there are a few guys who are on all year round, I think Utler maybe one person who could advise you on the pros and cons.

I'm one many. Most year round guys don't spend a lot of time here. I think we're all on AnabolicFitness.com. I think me and E2 are the only old time Elite members there. There are a few here though.

The advantage is quality of life. I don't carry the 255 I used to anymore that got to be too much after a while. I stay 210 now and that looks great on me and feels right. As 70 year old Bob Clapp will tell you there really are no disadvantages to it if you're not using upper end dosing. Being stronger and bigger has obvious advantages in a world where that commands respect, right or wrong. 17 years of cycling on and off and 5 of staying on has taught me that there is no difference from a health aspect. My cardiologist told me I'm his healthiest patient and my blood work is perfect. As I have posted dozens of time my lipid profile could be better but that's really not important. I don't believe that lipid profiles are a very accurate predictor of CAD in otherwise healthy athletic men who eat properly. It may be for sedentary, overweight, steak, chips, and ice cream eating men though.

Infertility, balding, cholesterol levels. Might sound like a good idea but can you imagine poking yourself everyweek for the rest of your life?

Depends what your age is mate?
As I guy on HRT, that is my life. Dr. on prescribes 450mg/month though. My levels are a little low on that amount. Gonna have to supplement with some extra.

There are serious health risk of non-stop steroid use.

To conflate my post with Mr X's post, you can't run a gram of AS a week and think it won't have an affect on your health, simply because of the estrogen levels that causes. Even with AI's. The highest long term dosing I have seen studied without side effects other than acne and hairloss was 500mg/wk . My doctor has had me on 300-400mg/wk and that seems to be my ideal dose. I do add deca though that I don't recommend to anyone who doesn't have joint problems like I do. I can't put my coat on by myself if I don't use deca for my shoulders. With it my shoulders are painless. So that's medicinal for me and certainly improves my quality of life.

hrt is the the way to go if your levels justify it, mine were so low my whole life until i got on. i don't think i will ever go off.

Sounds like you're on HRT /TRT right now. I would agree that test use for HRT/TRT has positive long term benefits, especially for men over 45-50.
