My buddy gets pulled over speeding a few days ago. respectable engineer, doesn't do drugs, wasn't drinking, etc.. He was going 90 in a 70, he admitted to it, the cop went back to his squad car. On his return, he asked if he could search my buddies car. He was moving and his blazer was packed full of furniture and boxes. My bud was like "if you want sir, but you can see how much shit I have." Cop said so big deal, and he began to search it...after struggling with the back seat, the cop said fuck it and gave up, told my buddy he could leave with no speeding ticket. When my buddy asked why he wanted to search the cop said he smelled weed. My bud laughed, he hasn't puffed in years, and he told the cop this. The cop said then maybe it was the smell of the pine forest they were in lol

some little punk bastards kicked over and stole some hand made christmas decorations off my lawn fri night,and when my mom called with a description etc they said they were to busy with"welfare checks and stabbings" and couldnt even send a cop by the area to see if they were still around.

i come form a family of cops....and for the most part, cops just piss me off. especially these suburban and rural "traffic" cops....nothing better to do than pull people over to harass them and eating donuts.

In certain areas of Canada, law enforcement cannot use smell of marijuana as probable cause. It has been proven that there are MANY other things that smell similar to marijuana and the human nose cannot detect those differences in some situations.

I got a ticket for going 10 mph over the limit on a road with very little traffic. They look for excuses to pull people over on saturday nights.

I refused a search once when I was 16, the cop called backup and 4 cops surrounded me....badgering me with questions trying to get me to consent. Threatened to get the K-9 unit and when I still didn't give in they had to let me go. Dumb fucks.

That doesnt apply to locked glove boxes, trunks, and other locked compartments (or locked briefcases, safes, etc.)

In my state, if you refuse a search, they then have "probable cause" and will search you anyways. The locked compartment rule still stands though.

I should clarify. The don't just immediately get "probable cause", but what they do is then claim that they saw you try to hide something as they were pulling you over, or that someone somewhere saw you in your car with something recently and blah blah blah. They get away with all the time.
