The Phrase "I deserve"

People throw this phrase around whenever things don't go the way they think things should have....too often, in my opinion.

Looking back on your life thus far ask yourself this question:

If you could go back in time and get EVERYTHING you deserved, good and bad, would you really want it? Did you get gyp'ed out of more stuff than you got away with? Maybe you got off a DUI on some technicality but were really guilty. Maybe you lost a job because of reverse discrimination.

Serious discussion.

I think I've pretty much evened out. Well, maybe I've been given more shit than I've dished out. It's hard to say.

I avoid the issue altogether by saying something like: "Fuck if I deserve it...I want it."

I can only remember a few things that I've gotten away with, or a few things that didn't go my way when I think they should have. In general, however, I'm an unhappy person that often doesn't think much of himself. I'm more good than bad, but overall inferior when compared to what I think I should or could be.

I've rarely done anything, or taken advantage of life's opportunities. And yet, I have many things that I should be thankful for, because most others do not have anywhere near what I do, despite the fact that I haven't really worked for or earned them.

In that sense, I'm not sure I deserve much at all.

I've never really thought of myself as someone that's entitled to things. If there's something I want, I know I'll have to get it. Doesn't mean I don't grit my teeth when it doesn't come when I was expecting it to...

That is because you are not a female.

I think DT is talkin karma. Not like picking up that nice new doggie collar.
Good = finding money
Bad = losing money
Know what I mean Mr Clean?

There were a few times that I should have been treated by others a little better, considering the fact that I treated them well. But the thought of deserving anything material, employment positions, free lunches, etc. doesn't really cross my mind. I just do the best I can and hope good fortune either comes my way, or I am able to make it myself.

Actually the idea for the thread came about because a friend of a friend was whining about his bad marriage and how he deserved better, which he probably did. However what about the times when he ran a red light and just missed a collision; or got a job that should have gone to somebody else; or did something wrong yet somebody else took the blame for it.

I'll take my less than perfect life as it is, thank you very much.
